In honor of Valentine's Day — or Galentine's Day as we like to call it over here at Gloss Angeles — we have Matthew Herman, co-founder of Boy Smells, on the pod to discuss all things candles, fragrance, and emotions (specifically the ones that certain scents can evoke). Matthew and his partner David Kien founded the brand in their LA kitchen as an experiment back in 2016 and now, Boy Smells is one of the most popular candle brands on the market. They even have a collab with the one and only Kacey Musgraves (you've heard Kirbie talk about their "Slow Burn" candle on the pod, no doubt). In this episode, Matthew shares how they transitioned from fashion to candles, what the process is like when creating different scents, and the upcoming launch of the brand's new "cologne de parfums," launching March 2nd.

Don't be offended — we've been in your exact position. That's why we're sharing our tips on how to avoid these three extremely common mistakes you're making when it comes to your skincare routine. They may sound like common sense, or they may surprise you — it's hard to know since skincare is so personal. It's a topic we're commonly asked about and we hope this guide helps you get out of skincare any skincare drama you may be entangled in, from bad application habits to purchasing for the wrong reasons.
Before we dive into that, we're sharing our thoughts on influencers and makeup artists partying during the pandemic and how we plan on covering them moving forward, plus we're introducing a new format for What's on Your Face. This week, Sara details her love of a hairdryer than's not only affordable but lightweight, powerful and s'cute.

Emma Chamberlain is an entrepreneur, which is more than a lot of us could say when we were 19, amirite? She's also a global sensation with over 12M Instagram followers, 9M+ Youtube subscribers and over 1B views on the platform. Everyone wants a piece of Emma and she's happy to oblige — she's a content creator, podcaster, coffee company owner and now Creative Director and Global Brand Ambassador for Bad Habit, a new line of skincare staples priced between $18-$28. We fell in love with her during a press day for the brand so we had to have her on the pod! She details what products she can't live without, what it's been like looking back at herself on Youtube, how she balanced a rigorous Accutane prescription in an effort to get rid of her acne and what she learned about skincare along the way.

TikTok is the reason many of us have kept our sanity this year due to its thriving algorithm and insanely watchable videos. There's tons of beauty gems to be found but also quite a few ideas we wouldn't recommend partaking in. Today we're explaining the best and worst of trends from the 'Tok, from creating dark circles with makeup (???) to a lawsuit that has many TikTok users throwing out their shampoo and conditioner. Before you overhaul your haircare, listen to today's ep to get a handle on what's really happening.
We also discuss two products we are super impressed by this week: drops that instantly dry your nail polish and a new beauty brand that doesn't compromise on performance while also making products that are truly Earth-friendly.

You fell in love with Lana Condor while watching her charming portrayal of Lara Jean Covey in Netflix's "To All the Boys I've Loved Before." The actress and singer is joining us on today's episode to talk all of the things: eyelash extensions and how to maintain them between appointments, having to give up the emotional attachment to her hair as an actress, how Noah Centineo's body changed throughout filming all three movies (😏), Lara Jean's beauty evolution, and how growing up Asian-American made her want to work with a brand like Neutrogena, which she has recently been named a celebrity ambassador for. Trust us, if you don't already love Lana, you will after hearing our chat.

We've wanted to make this episode for awhile now! We got to chatting about brands and products we're obsessed with but don't show enough love on the podcast. All that changes today! We're singing the praises of 6 brands, including skincare, makeup and haircare saviors. These brands have been tried and trues throughout our lives, from the drugstore brand Sara was purchasing long before she was a beauty editor to a serum Kirbie used to steal from her mom in high school. (Sorry Janet!) We explain the stories that make these brands so great and highlight a few products from each to help curate your next beauty outing.
