From Sobriety To Recovery: An Addiction Recovery Podcast

Ground your thoughts, feelings & emotions in facts not opinions, Ep 38

Listen Later

Ep #38 - Your emotional growth is crucial in your addiction recovery. Often our inability to handle our emotions in a healthy way is what led us down the path where addiction gripped us. This is why I focus myself on grounding my emotions in facts not opinions.

This is how I do it and how you can too. Being mindful that you create the thoughts and feelings that draw you into certain directions and into the actions that create your life results - you can take control of your mind and be in charge of your inner-voice and outer responses to what others do around you and what you your self do.

Here is the self-coaching model popularized to me by Brooke Castillo.

Circumstance - the facts about what happened

Thoughts - created from the circumstance

Feelings - triggered by your thoughts

Actions - driven by your feelings and emotions

Results - the culmination of the thoughts, feelings, and actions all sparked by the circumstance (an event, or outside trigger)

Check out the episode from my life coach Brooke Castillo where she talks about the life coaching model I cover in this episode. I like the way I talk about it but she is the master for which I listen to with intent and purpose.
