Who in their right mind wants to do player ratings after a forgettable 67-point loss against the Suns in Darwin? Who in their right mind would even want to listen to it?But at Hawks Insiders we’re committed to the process  - even though it’s hard to think of too many players who get a pass mark after a miserable night in difficult conditions against the Suns at TIO Stadium.

There was a whole lot of meh about that performance, and the sooner we all enact Sammy Mitchell’s 24-hour rule and forget about it, the better. It’s why HI’s Ashley Browne and Darren Levin decided to break from tradition and record a condensed rundown instead of ranking every player on a night where most were comfortably beaten across the ground.

The Hawks Insiders team were certainly up and about following an unexpected win against a Premiership-contending side.

Despite a nervy final minutes, the Hawks ran out five point winners against the second placed Lions at our ‘other’ spiritual home: UTAS in Launceston.The game marked a welcome return to the side for Tom Mitchell and Changkuoth Jiath, while Jai Newcombe, Dylan Moore and Mitch Lewis continued on their merry way. There was a new role for Frosty, inspired performances from Chad and Jarman for the Sir Doug Nicholls Round, a debut goal for Slammin’ Sam Butler and an inexplicable sub.

We let the dust settle for an extra 24 hours after our disappointing loss to the Bombers before Ashley Browne, Andrew Weiss and Darren Levin rated every player on the ground.

It was definitely slim pickings in terms of giving players a rating of 6/10 or above, and this pod had the most ‘fail’ marks in any game since the St Kilda debacle in Round 4.
