Do you feel worse every fall and can't figure out why? It may be the "October slide."
The October slide is not a diagnosis, but it's common enough in autoimmune groups to have a name. If you feel worse every fall, you're not imagining it, and you get to look at why.
In episode 220, Esther recaps episode 120 and goes back through the research on seasons and autoimmune conditions.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Hit play and build your fall game plan.

You grind your teeth at night. You bloat after a glass of water. You crave sugar and salt, you are wide awake at 2am, and your labs still come back fine.
What if some of that is not your thyroid?
Hashimoto's is two things and not one. Medication helps the thyroid side. The immune side is the part that is yours to work on, and part of that work is looking at what else your body is carrying.
In episode 219, Kim Rogers (the Worm Queen) teaches you all about parasites and Hashimoto's. If you’re curious but nervous (or grossed out,) this episode breaks down symptoms to watch for, how the kit works, and easy steps to get started.

Practices to drive to. A full workday. A to-do list that keeps growing. When your week fills up, are your healthy habits the first thing to go?
"I'll start that when things calm down." But a busy week doesn't pause the stress on your body. It adds to the load. Your thyroid and your immune system still need daily, consistent action, even when your plate is full.
You don't need a whole life overhaul. In episode 218, you'll find out how to manage Hashimoto's when life is busy, so your habits keep going in your hardest weeks.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Hit play and find the version of your habits that fits the week you're in right now.

Someone asks how you are doing. You say fine. You both move on.
Fine is not an emotion. And most of the time, it is not the truth either.
This bonus episode is a little different. Instead of a book review, I am sharing a sermon from my church, because this message applies to everyone. It is the full meaning of "how are you doing?"
Pastor Jason Lang walks through the five questions hiding inside that one simple question. If you have gotten good at saying fine while you are running on empty, this one is worth your time.
How are you doing? (five questions in one)

You finished the list. You sorted everything into thyroid or immune. And somehow that made it worse, because now you are looking at two full buckets and every single thing in them looks like it should be the thing you do today.
So you did nothing. Or you picked five things, went hard, and lasted about eleven days.
That is not a discipline problem.
Sorting is triage, not treatment. It tells you what to work on first. But nobody ever explains the "first" part, and that gap is where most women get stuck. In this episode I walk through the three rules I use to decide what actually comes next, why the most important thing is almost never the right place to start, and what six winters of working on one single trigger taught me about doing less at a time.

How serious is Hashimoto's disease? Nobody answered that at your appointment.
You got a prescription and a follow-up in six weeks. Or you got told your numbers are fine for now and we are just going to keep an eye on things. Either way, you walked out not knowing whether to brush this off or worry about it every day.
The answer sits in between those two. Hashimoto's is two things and not one. It is a thyroid that cannot keep up, and it is an immune system attacking that thyroid. Medication can help handle the first one. The second one is all yours to work on.
In episode 216, Esther gives you the facts without the fear, including what she reads in her own thyroid books about what happens when hypothyroidism goes unwatched, and why she gets most serious about this with women who are pregnant or trying to be.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Hit play and get the answer you did not get at your appointment.

You did the sorting. Thyroid on one side, immune on the other. So why does it feel like nothing has actually changed?
Here is the trap. Sorting feels like progress, and it is, but so far it is all in your head. The buckets are full and nothing in either one has moved. Sorting feels safe. Starting feels like a risk.
In this final episode of the summer sorting series, Esther walks you through what to do after sorting Hashimoto's into thyroid and immune. Not twelve things to do tomorrow. One thing, chosen on purpose, small enough that you will still be doing it next month.
Hit play and pick your one next thing.

You have the lab printout in front of you. You circled the flagged numbers, looked them up, and maybe compared them to somebody else's results in a group. So why do you still not know what they mean?
In episode 214, Esther walks through the full panel and sorts every lab into thyroid or immune, so you can do the same thing with your own results in about five minutes. Sorting Hashimoto's labs is simpler than it looks once you know which list each one belongs on.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Hit play, then pull out your most recent results and start sorting.

Six common Hashimoto’s symptoms: fatigue, weight resistance, brain fog, hair loss, constipation, and feeling cold all the time.
You've been told they're all just your thyroid. Some of them are. And some of them were never going to be fully fixed by your thyroid.
In episode 213, Esther sorts the six most common Hashimoto's symptoms into thyroid or immune. Two landed in the thyroid bucket. Four landed in both. That isn't bad news. Two buckets is not two problems. It's two places to look instead of one dead end.
In this episode, you'll learn:

You started the summer with a question. Now you have a longer list of root causes and the exact same question you had in May.
Which one am I supposed to do something about first?
That is not an information problem. It is a sorting problem.
In this episode, Esther goes back through the summer root cause series and sorts every topic covered into one of two buckets using the Hashimoto's thyroid or immune framework. Each one gets sorted out loud so you can see how the filter actually works when you apply it to real information, including the one topic that landed in both buckets and changed how she thinks about minerals.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Hit play and get a filter for everything you already know.

Thyroid or immune. Finally sorted.
Your doctor gave you a pill for your thyroid. Nobody gave you a plan for your immune system. Those are two different problems, and only one of them got addressed.
The Health with Hashimoto's podcast teaches you to sort everything you know about Hashimoto's into one of two buckets: thyroid function or immune function. That's the shift. Not more information. A way to use what you've already got.
If you've read the books, followed the accounts, and still don't know what to do Monday morning, you don't have an information problem. You have a sorting problem.
Hosted by Esther Yunkin, a registered nurse with 25 years of experience, this podcast covers what Hashimoto's actually is, why it happens, and how to work with your doctor (not against them) while you build a plan that fits a real life.
