  • "Chicken Salad Out of Chicken S*": Nick Hoffman Gets Real About the Grind

Kenny Wallace sits down with Nick Hoffman fresh off the biggest win of his career — the 56th running of the World 100, the most-watched Dirt Late Model race ever broadcast. They get into what it felt like watching his text messages blow up from Australia to a hotel lobby full of Cup drivers, why Kenny publicly called the win five days early, life at the shop with his crew being neighbors with Ricky Stenhouse Jr., the truth about NASCAR money creeping into dirt racing, and his growing mentorship of Carson Hocevar. Hoffman also talks about his decision to race for Spire as the team enters into dirt racing. It's part victory lap, part behind-the-curtain look at what it costs — financially and mentally — to win the biggest race in dirt racing.

  • Did Denny Hamlin's Words Change Hocevar's Driving?

Eighteen cautions, four-wide into turn one on a flat mile,  brakes going away everywhere you looked – and at the end of it Kyle Larson breaks a 51-race drought on four fresh tires while Joey Logano sits there with two. The guys agree last weekend was one of the best races they've seen at the track -- and they'd tell you if it wasn't.

NASCAR's TV viewership is up almost every week this year, and Herm, Schrader get into why – shocker – they’re crediting a lot to Carson Hocevar stirring things up and a new generation of drivers who don't hold anything back. There’s also the entertainment side of things and tracks like Worldwide Technology figuring out that a race weekend has to be a show, not just a race, the guys break down why that might matter as much as who wins. Also this week: we’re wondering what Denny Hamlin said to Carson Hocevar before the race and if it changed his driving in St. Louis, and taking a look at the messy logistics and possibility of Dodge getting back into The Cup Series.

  • Why Dale Earnhardt Sr. Called Michael Waltrip a 'Tough Sumbitch'

Michael Waltrip sits down with Kenny Wallace for one of the most honest conversations of his career. They go all the way back to Owensboro, Kentucky, where a broke kid with a borrowed go-kart ended up crashing on Kyle Petty's basement floor, then Richard Petty's guest room, just trying to find a way into NASCAR. From there it's one wild story after another: the horrifying 1990 Bristol wreck that left him standing next to a mangled car with his feet on the ground, the Dale Earnhardt friendship that turned into a Cup team, and the commercials that made him one of the most beloved characters the sport has ever se en.

But this isn't just a highlight reel — it's Mikey getting real about the losses that gutted him, the brother who cast a long shadow, and how he turned "broke as a joke" into two Daytona 500 trophies and three decades on Fox. If you only know him as the goofy guy from the booth, this conversation will change that.

  • He Lost His Arm, His Legs, and Almost His Life — Then Rebuilt It All

Darrell Gwynn was one of the fastest men in drag racing — until one crash changed everything. He lost his arm. He lost the use of his legs. But somehow, he didn't lose himself.

This week, Kenny Wallace sits down with the NHRA legend for a conversation that goes way beyond racing. Gwynn opens up about the wreck that ended his career, the outpouring of support from the NASCAR and racing world that got him through it, and how he turned tragedy into a mission — becoming a car owner and a lifeline for others living with paralysis through his philanthropic work.

Then the guys get into some of the nuances of drag racing, why motorsports struggle to get butts in the seats, and whether racing as a whole needs to get a lot more entertaining if it wants to survive.

Gwynn also pulls back the curtain on his new book, Fortunate Son — stacked with never-before-seen photos that sent him straight down memory lane. In his words: "The book isn't a racing book; it's a book about a racer."

  • Wins over Consistency, Did Mark Martin Get it Right?

This week on Herm & Schrader, Ryan Preece's walk-off Daytona win to punch his ticket into the Chase, and trying to decipher on what the Wood Brothers meant about Josh Berry with a message that could have been a ‘backhanded compliment.’ They then turn to how Mark Martin’s ‘campaign’ to reward consistency over wins knocked SVG out of the Chase.

The guys are also trying to figure out why Jimmie Johnson picked this moment to finally say something about Carson Hocevar with a post on X both complimenting – and criticizing Number 77 – and then, almost like he read it, Hocevar wrecked with 5 laps to go.

The conversation turns to Denny Hamlin’s first-place-finish in the regular season and for the first time since the Chase began, NASCAR didn't give him a trophy for it -- so the Denny Bros 3D printed him one instead.

Plus, a quick conversation as to whether or not Cleetus McFarland is actually ready for the Gateway Dome Nationals in St. Louis, Tom Cruise is back in the garage as Days of Thunder 2 looks like it might actually be happening, and of course the guys end the show on a high note with junky jokes.

Pre-race, post-race, in the pits, on the radio — Trotta's done it all and talks about how she broke into the business and what it actually takes to cover this sport. • Ford’s Closing the Gap on Toyota, but will it last?

Ryan Blaney just put another Ford in Victory Lane at New Hampshire and it's starting to feel like a pattern. Herm and Schrader break down whether the Blue Ovals are actually closing the gap on Toyota, or if it’s all track-dependent? Speaking of Fast Fords, Josh Berry is on fire as of late and driving like he has something to prove -- so why does he not have a ride for 2027?

And to wrap it up: IndyCar just ran through the streets of Washington DC, and now everyone's asking the obvious question — could NASCAR be next? Herm and Schrader weigh in on whether a street race in the nation's capital is realistic and whether or not more street courses are what NASCAR needs.

All these questions and more will be asked and answered on this week's Herm & Schrader.

  • Was Knoxville Delayed So Kyle Larson Could Make It?

This week on Herm & Schrader, our old friend Rick Mast is back to fill in for Schrader.  The guys take a look at Joey Logano's win at Richmond and how he's positioning himself for a run at a fourth Cup title.  Meanwhile, last year's champion Kyle Larson jetted off to Knoxville after Richmond and captured Sprint Car racing's ultimate prize.  But was the race unfairly delayed so he could get there?  And, Cleetus McFarland made his Late Model debut at Berlin in front of a standing-room-only crowd for three race nights.  Why do the fans love Cleetus so much, and could more stock car racing be in his future?  These questions and more will be answered this week by Herm & Mast.
