Emotional trauma causes pain, which in turn causes men to go silent. This type of trauma can stem from any lifechanging event but in midlife, we most often associate this trauma with divorce. Even amicable divorces can cause a level of emotional trauma simply because your life is drastically changing and you’re being thrust into the single world again.

It’s important to remember, however, that everyone is capable of healing from emotional trauma. The healing process is not necessarily quick and the person experiencing this trauma needs to do the healing work themselves. But healing is possible and with that comes the ability to have a committed relationship.
