Where Does Hong Kong Go From Here? (0:31)
Guest: Quinn Mecham, Professor of Political Science, Brigham Young University
It's been three weeks since a strict new "National Security Law" took effect in Hong Kong. We take a deep dive into why China imposed the law and what it means for Hong Kong, politically and internationally.

Why Do Humans Perceive Time Differently? (21:18)
Guest: Philip Gable, Professor of Psychology, University of Delaware
Have the last few months dragged for you? Does it seem like your pre-pandemic life was years ago, rather than months? There’s a fascinating explanation for why time seems to fly for some people and not for others in the same situation.

Virtual Leadership: A Revolution (35:51)
Guest: Cody Reeves, Professor of Organizational Behavior and Human Resources, Brigham Young University
The type of leader who thrives in a face-to-face business world is not the same kind of leader who excels in this new remote working reality. Some research of virtual vs. in-person collaboration suggests the pandemic is giving rise to a new kind of business leader who might not have risen as quickly before. So, what is that kind of leader?

Potential Pig Pandemic 2.0 (52:49)
Guest: Martha Nelson, Staff Scientist, National Institutes of Health
Scientists in China have identified a new virus in pigs that may have pandemic potential. They found that pigs there are being infected more and more frequently with a strain of influenza. The CDC announced that it’s taking action to prepare for this swine flu. Another pandemic is the last thing we need, but should we even be worried?

How Effective Are Online Petitions? (1:09:40)
Guest: Jason Del Gandio, Professor of Communication and Social Influence, Temple University
Where there’s an issue, there’s an online petition somewhere in support of it. They’re everywhere and have been for years. Do they make any difference? Here are some current examples: A 15-year old started a petition to get “Justice for George Floyd” in Minneapolis has become the largest in Change.org’s history, with more 19-million signatures and counting. The officers involved in Floyd’s death have been arrested and charged, but will they be convicted? Another petition calling for “Justice for Breonna Taylor” has more than 10-million signatures but the officers who shot her in her home have not been arrested. Then there’s the online petition urging Disney to change the theme of Splash Mountain. After 20,000 signatures, Disney announced it would change the ride.

Is This Cake? Hyperrealistic Cake Artists Are Making Cake Look Like Anything (1:26:23)
Guest: Natalie Sideserf, Cake Artist, Host of Food Network's "Texas Cake House", and owner of Sideserf Cake Studio
Have you seen the videos of people cutting into what look like ordinary objects-like a Kleenex box or ahead of lettuce-to reveal that they’re actually made entirely out of cake? Natalie Sideserf is responsible for some of the most stunningly realistic cakes. If you’ve seen the filet-o-fish sandwich or the pickle or the onion–those are all her cakes. Sideserf hosts "Texas Cake House" on the Food Network and posts how-to videos on her Youtube channel Sideserf Cake Studio.
