In this post, we are going to dive into a new topic: your unique selling proposition and how you can use it to book more clients! The secret to booking more clients is knowing what sets you apart from your competitors. AND including that in all of your branding and marketing. Ready to uncover your unique selling proposition? Let’s dive in!

How to Use Your Unique Selling Proposition to Get More Clients
What is a Unique Selling Proposition?

The first question you might be thinking is, “What is a unique selling proposition?” A unique selling proposition (or USP) is a statement that defines what sets a product, service, or business apart from its competitors. It is a concise, clear statement that communicates the value and benefits that a customer can expect to receive by choosing to work with you.

A USP should answer the question, “What makes you unique and different?” It should focus on the key benefits that your service provides, and highlight the features that set it apart from the competition. A strong USP can help a business stand out in a crowded market, attract customers who are looking for the specific benefits it provides, and build a loyal customer base.

What Does This Mean for Photographers?

So what does this look like for you, as a senior photographer? A USP for a senior photographer should focus on what makes you stand out from other photographers in your market.  Your USP will depend on your individual strengths and what you can offer to your clients that your competitors cannot. Here are a few different potential USPs for senior photographers to help you identify what your USP might be!

USP Ideas for Senior Photographers:
  1. Specialized expertise: As a senior photographer you might focus on a specific niche or style. This style sets you apart from other photographers in your area
  2. Personalized experience: Emphasize your ability to tailor your services to each individual client. This creates a unique and personalized senior photo experience.
  3. Creative approach: Showcase your creativity and willingness to think outside of the box when it comes to locations, props, or lighting techniques.
  4. Exceptional quality: Highlight the exceptional quality of your work, whether it’s through the use of high-end equipment, attention to delta, post-processing techniques, or expansive experience and training.
  5. Emotional Connection: Emphasize your ability to create a meaningful and emotional connection with your clients. Show how you capture not just a photo but a moment in time that they will cherish for years to come.
  6. How to Use Your USP to Get More Clients

Your USP is an essential element of your branding and marketing strategy. When utilized correctly, your USP can and WILL help you book MORE clients! Here are some ways that you, as a senior photographer, can use your USP to book more clients:

     1. Incorporate your USP into your branding materials: In your website, social media profiles, business cards, and marketing materials, highlight your USP consistently. If your USP is creating lifelong memories, use language that emphasizes the significance of your photos in capturing special moments.
    2. Leverage social proof: Use client testimonials or showcase awards and recognition to reinforce your USP. Positive reviews and accolades demonstrate how your USP has resonated with others and can attract more clients.
    3. Use targeted advertising: Utilize social media platforms like Facebook or Instagram for targeted advertising. By reaching potential clients who are likely to resonate with your USP, you can increase your visibility and attract more clients. Ensure your ads have clear calls-to-action (CTAs) to contact you, visit your website, or fill out an interest form.

    Discovering Your Own USP

If you are still feeling unsure about what your USP is, I want you to do these few quick things:

    • Analyze your competition to see what they are offering and where there might be some gaps in the market that you can fill.
    • Make a list of your strengths as a senior photographer and the benefits of working with you.
    • These two steps will help you unlock how you can play on your own strengths to make yourself stand out as a senior photographer!
    • Once you know what your USP is, make sure you are incorporating it into ALL of your branding and marketing!! Get out into your community and let them know what you have to offer! Remember, there is no one else like you!
