In fact, research shows that depending on the sport and level of competition, anywhere from 0 to 19% of male athletes, and 6 to 45% of female athletes, may experience disordered eating or an eating disorder. These numbers are not small—and they remind us that behind the strength, discipline, and performance we admire, many athletes are silently struggling.
