As part of this conversation, we will be exploring the following three key areas:
• The benefits of technology in agriculture and the tremendous benefits of digitizing your farm. • The power of a specialized farm accounting software and what this invaluable tool can do for your bottom line and peace of mind. • The ins and outs about data transparency in agriculture and how industry leaders are educating and helping farmers protect and be aware of how their data is or isn't being used.
Our audience hears me say this all the time, the goal with this show is to bring our audience the people and ideas that will IMPACT your farming operation. We are excited about this week's conversation as we are confident there are some great ideas shared in this episode that will IMPACT your farm.
We are excited for you to join us for this week's episode!
In this week's episode, "Transition Planning Secrets of Success for Gen 2 Successors," Tracy and Elaine follow up on last week's show with an episode geared to the unique challenges facing second-generation farm successors.
Are you a Gen 2 Successor? Do you feel like your farm transition plan is stuck in neutral? Maybe your parents refuse to discuss the subject, leaving you frustrated, resentful, and fearful for your future? If so, this episode is right for you. First off, it doesn't need to be this way. Secondly, you don't have to travel this path alone. Today's guest, Elaine Froese, is here to help get the next generation unstuck.
Throughout the episode, Elaine shares the best of her wisdom from over forty years of helping families transition their farm to the next generation. Tracy and Elaine chat about common mistakes and best practices, and they highlight four big key questions that founders should be thinking about to transition the farm. Are you the founding generation of the farm? If so, you will not want to miss this episode and the wisdom that Elaine shares to get you started or unstuck on your farm transition journey.
Are you a Gen 2 Successor? We have an episode just for you next week. In the meantime, we highly encourage you to tune into this week's episode so that both generations are on the same page when it comes to transition planning.
In this episode, Thriving During "The Great Pause," Tracy speaks with Elaine Froese on maximizing summer fun on the farm during these unique times.
The Great Pause has canceled overnight summer camps, limited family gatherings, delayed weddings, and the list goes on. Even with all the restrictions, we know that summer 2020 will breeze by. As with anything, it's how we frame it. Are we going to allow COVID19 limits to cancel our fun, or are we going to seek out and find the positives in this situation? The challenge is to come out of our funk and get creative.
In this episode, Tracy and Elaine explore dozens of ideas to create and maximize summer fun on the farm. From painting "en plain air" to cleaning out the farm shed and hunting for treasures. Many farm treasures can be gifted, sold for a profit on eBay, or even repurposed into beautiful pieces like a shabby chic photo display made with a window frame, jute, and clothespins. The options are endless, and the memories will last a lifetime.
Are you in a homeschooling funk and out of creative ideas? If so, you and your family will not want to miss this episode.
Are you a cattle producer? If so, you will not want to miss this episode where Tracy and Sandy sit down a few months into COVID19 to chat about how the year started, how COVID has impacted the markets, and what producers can expect moving forward.
In addition to discussing supply and demand, they delve deeper into the market volatility that COVID has caused. Sandy expresses her concern for the fall of 2020, and she brings it home to the producer in a discussion about the urgent need for producers to create options for their marketing strategies and their business. She shares some great suggestions and best management practices for our audience.
In this week's episode "Crop & Forage Insurance 101," Tracy speaks with David Van Deynze from Manitoba Agricultural Services Corporation (MASC).
As part of the risk management series on The Impact Farming Show, we invited David to share more about both topics with our producers. In this interview, we review the different types of crop insurance programs offered, qualifying crops, costs, and coverage types/levels, claim process and stipulations, and the adoption rates here in Manitoba and other provinces.
After reviewing any misunderstood parts of the crop insurance program, David and Tracy move onto answering the same questions for the forage insurance programs, which seem to have less traction and adopted than the crop insurance programs.
Are you are a crop or cattle producer? If so, this episode is for you.
In this week's episode, "Livestock Price insurance 101," Tracy chats with Jason Dobbin about the WLPIP livestock price insurance program as part of our continued risk management insurance series on the Impact Farming Show. Risk management strategies are essential to have in place to protect your farm, and especially so, during volatile times. There is no better time to discuss the livestock price insurance program than the present. We are curious, do you use this program on your farm? Or are you unsure of the benefits, find the program confusing, and want to learn more? If so, you are not alone. Both Tracy and Jason agree that this program is often highly misunderstood by producers. It seems downright complicated at the onset; however, once you grasp the details, it is rather simple.
Here on The Impact Farming Show, our goal is to bring you the people and ideas that will IMPACT your farming operation. The return guests were invited back onto the show to speak about their company Ag Direct Hail has been disrupting the traditional hail insurance model for nearing the last decade.
Do you purchase hail insurance? If so, this episode is for you. Tune in as Bruce and Ellen share their story of innovation and how their company is dramatically changing how Western Canadian farmers buy hail insurance. Their mission is about more than saving you time and money. Don't miss this episode.
