Impact Farming

Jolene Brown is a real farmer Brown. She is a corn and soybean farmer in east-central Iowa. I love this part….She can hypnotize a chicken, plug grain augers and entertain the folks behind the equipment parts counter. In addition to being a farmer, Jolene has been a professional speaker for over 30 years, she's an author and she's a Family Business Consultant.

In this episode of Impact Farming, we interviewed Jolene Brown at Farm Progress Show 2018 in Regina, Saskatchewan. Jolene was the keynote speaker at the event and was delivering her presentation "If I huff and puff will I blow your house down." She was kind enough to join us on Impact Farming prior to her presentation and share some of her key thoughts on family, farming and farm business planning.

1. Honor the family by doing the business right.
2. It's important for farm leaders to have a mastermind or a peer group outside the farm to receive the support they need.
3. The 3 most important questions that need to be answered in regards to farm succession planning.
4. Why it's important that we change our mindset to one of joy, celebration, and appreciation.
