Welcome back to Omaha Mom Talks!
Thank you for joining me for the first episode of Season 2. I’m so glad to have
you here. If you’re new, I’m Jessie - a wife, mama of two (ages 4 and 7),
mental health therapist, and your fellow millennial mom just trying to figure
it all out.
What to Expect:
In this deeply personal episode, I share my journey through the loss of both of my parents - my dad, who passed away in early 2020, and my mom, who I
lost in the summer of 2024. I talk about the complexities of grief, including
what it’s like to lose a parent while raising young kids, and the ways this journey has shaped my approach to motherhood and my work as a therapist. I also touch on the well-known Kübler-Ross stages of grief and why they’re often misunderstood. If you’ve ever felt untethered by grief or wondered how to show up for others walking that path, this one’s for you.
