  • #133 Scott McGrory - Champion Track Cyclist

This week Brian and Harrison intro the show by covering all the major topics in their lives and within the AFL, including: The unfortunate footy headlines of the past week, the upcoming Glasgow Commonwealth Games, the FIFA World Cup, the Alex de Minaur secret wedding, and the LeBron James trade situation. Finally, Brian shares a crazy untold story comparable to Josh Worrell’s recent incident.

Their guest this week is Olympic gold medallist, cycling commentator, and all-round good bloke, Scott McGrory. He joins the boys for one of the most remarkable stories we've heard on the podcast.

Scott's sporting journey reads like a movie script. After winning a bronze medal in the Team Pursuit at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, he endured a 12-year wait before returning to the Olympic stage. Then came the fairytale, winning gold alongside Brett Aitken in the Madison at the 2000 Sydney Olympics in front of a home crowd.

But what makes the achievement even more extraordinary is what Scott was carrying with him at the time. Just three months before those Games, he and his family suffered the heartbreaking loss of his 11-month-old son, Alexander. Scott opens up about navigating unimaginable grief while continuing to pursue his Olympic dream, making for a powerful conversation about resilience, perspective, and the people who helped him through it.

The boys also dive into Scott's life beyond competing, including his role as a high-performance coach, how elite cyclists are developed, and what it takes to identify and nurture future champions. As a former Australian Olympic team selector, Scott also lifts the lid on the selection process and the difficult decisions that come with choosing athletes to represent the country on the world's biggest stage.

There are plenty of laughs mixed in too, with Scott's down-to-earth nature and great sense of humour shining through throughout the chat.

Inspiring, insightful, and full of perspective, this is an incredible conversation with a man who has experienced the highest highs and the toughest lows, and handled both with remarkable grace.

  • #132 Ben & Will Hayes - Lindsay Park Racing

This week Brian and Harrison intro the show by covering all the major topics in their lives and within the AFL, including: the World Cup, the Freo vs Swans game, the passing of Derryn Hinch, BT's READING. WATCHING. LISTENING, and plenty more.

Their guests are Ben and Will Hayes from Lindsay Park Racing, two of the brightest young trainers in Australian racing and custodians of one of the sport's greatest family legacies.

Alongside their brother JD, Ben and Will have taken the reins of the family business built by their father, legendary trainer David Hayes, and grandfather Colin Hayes. With an astonishing 221 Group 1 victories attached to the Hayes name, racing success is part of the family DNA, but as the boys explain, that doesn't make the job any easier.

BT and Harrison chat with Ben and Will about growing up around stables, horses, and some of the biggest names in racing, before diving into the realities of running a modern training operation and the pressures that come with carrying one of the most famous surnames in the industry.

The conversation also covers the recent fires at their Euroa property, the resilience required to navigate challenges both on and off the track, and the unique lifestyle that comes with working in racing seven days a week.

Of course, BT couldn't let Will escape without plenty of footy chat either, revisiting his AFL career and comparing the pressures of elite sport with life as a trainer.

Full of great stories, family history, racing insight, and plenty of laughs, this is a fascinating look inside one of Australian sport's most successful dynasties, and two impressive young men helping write its next chapter.

  • #130 Bill Kusznirczuk - Town Planner

This week Brian and Harrison skip the entrée and go straight to the main… Bill Kusznirczuk, one of Victoria’s most respected and influential town planners, and while it might not sound like your typical footy podcast guest, this turns out to be one of the most fascinating chats we've had.

The founder and Managing Director of Clement-Stone Town Planners, Bill has spent more than 35 years helping shape Victoria's cities, suburbs, sporting precincts, and communities. Throughout his career, he's advised governments, councils, developers, and community groups on some of the state's most significant planning and infrastructure projects.

But this conversation goes far beyond town planning.

Bill reflects on his upbringing as the son of Ukrainian migrant parents, the values that shaped him, and the journey from humble beginnings to building one of the most respected planning businesses in the country. Despite his remarkable success, Bill remains incredibly humble, thoughtful, and community-minded - qualities that quickly shine through during the chat.

Having known each other for many years, BT and Bill share a genuine friendship, which leads to plenty of laughs along the way. Unsurprisingly, more than once, BT tries to turn the podcast into a private consultation, with Bill doing his best to provide answers without officially submitting an invoice.

Insightful, entertaining, and full of wisdom from someone who has quietly helped shape modern Victoria, this is a terrific chat with a brilliant operator and an even better bloke.

  • #129 Dennis Banks - Collingwood FC Legend

This week Brian and Harrison skip the entrée and go straight to the main… Collingwood fan favourite, Dennis Banks, and with Dennis and BT having played together at the Collingwood Football Club during the 1980s, you’d wonder whether this was setup as an interview or an excuse to catch up.

The boys wind back the clock to their playing days at Victoria Park, sharing stories from an era when footy was a little rougher, a little looser, and packed with larger-than-life characters. From life inside the Collingwood Football Club to the friendships that have lasted decades, Dennis reflects on the moments and people that shaped his career.

As one of the Magpies' most popular figures, Dennis also talks about what made Collingwood such a unique club and the passion of its supporters.

Of course, BT can't help but revisit a few old stories, with Dennis more than happy to remind him that memory can be a selective thing. The result is plenty of laughs, some classic footy yarns, and the kind of easy banter that only comes from a friendship that's stood the test of time.

This week Brian and Harrison intro the show by covering all the major topics in their lives and within the AFL, including: BT building Dyl Buckley’s shed, Jordan Taylor’s new job as a Real Estate Agent, Brian’s advice for Harrison as he heads away on holiday, and plenty more.

Their guest this week is Geelong Cats great, Cameron Ling, and with Lingy and BT having spent years together calling footy on Seven and 3AW, the banter is present from the first minute.

The boys take a trip down memory lane, revisiting Lingy’s incredible AFL career, including premiership success with the Geelong Football Club, captaining one of the greatest teams of the modern era, and the role he played as one of the game's most respected taggers.

There are plenty of stories from the commentary box too, with BT and Lingy reflecting on their years working together, the characters they've met along the way, and some of the moments that never quite made it to air.

They also chat about the evolution of the game, what makes great teams successful, leadership in elite sport, and how Lingy has transitioned from club captain to one of football's most trusted media voices.

  • #128 Seb Costello - Front-line Journalist

This week Brian and Harrison skip th entrée and go straight to the main… front-line journalist, Seb Costello. This is a chat that is equal parts insightful, hilarious, and as always with Brian, fairly strange.

Having known each other for years through their time together at 3AW, BT and Seb slip straight into the kind of easy banter and mutual respect that only comes from a long-standing friendship. The result is one of those conversations that feels more like mates catching up than an interview.

Seb takes the boys behind the scenes of life as a journalist, sharing stories from the front line of some of Australia's biggest news events and explaining what it takes to chase stories in an increasingly fast-paced media landscape. They discuss the pressure of reporting live, the importance of trust in the industry, and the challenge of delivering news when everyone seems to have an opinion.

Along the way, Seb's trademark wit is on full display. Sharp, thoughtful, and incredibly funny, he keeps BT on his toes throughout while also offering a fascinating perspective on the media industry and the world around us.

There are plenty of laughs, some great radio stories, and a few moments that reveal the person behind the microphone - a generous, intelligent, and genuinely good bloke who has become one of Australia's most respected reporters.
