The official Pac-12 pre-season all-conference teams have been released, and Oregon Football has 13 total players spread across the first/second teams and the honorable-mention list. The first-teamers include LB Noah Sewell, DL Brandon Dorlus, and returning OL Alex Forsythe and TJ Bass. After losing a verbal commitment from a top-5 2023 recruit in Mookie Cook, Dana Altman and his staff have landed a MAJOR verbal commitment from Kwame Evans Jr., the #2 player in the ESPN 300. In what has been and up-and-down recruiting cycle for Dana Altman and co., landing Evans is a MASSIVE get for the 2023 recruiting class. All eyes for Duck fans now turn back to Cook, who at one point earlier had been talked about as a potential recruiting pairing with Evans.

Oregon Football's 10-win season in 2022 did not yield the postseason results that Duck fans were hoping for, but the good news is they should be conference contenders once again. At Pac-12 media days over the weekend, the media members picked Oregon second to Utah in the Pac-12 in 2022. Who else could contend for a conference crown along with the Ducks?

On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by Max Torres (@mtorressports) to talk about the weekend's Pac-12 media days and his biggest takeaways after covering the Ducks down in Los Angeles. George Kliavkoff took a decisive and aggressive tone when answering questions and talking about the prospect of further conference realignment. Though it's encouraging to see the commissioner willing to fight for the Pac-12 and take attacks on it personally, he is not in a position to stop Oregon from leaving IF an offer came from a superior league.

Dan Lanning continues to check boxes in a good way as Oregon's head coach, showing himself to be poised while speaking with excited energy when talking about the progrum. Oregon's roster is one of the best in the Pac-12, and that coupled with the expectations of competing for conference championships mean a high bar should be set for his first year by Oregon fans. Can they get over the hump against Utah and/or have another 10-win season?

Over the weekend, Dan Lanning got to experience his first Pac-12 conference media days as Oregon Football's head coach. He espoused a variety of positive messages and statements and the way that he talks about his team and the progrum should make Oregon fans excited. Lanning is young and in the grand scheme of things hasn't been a football coach for very long--but he appears to be more than prepared to be a head coach.

On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by Rian Winter (@SportsChat503) to talk about how Oregon's new head coach represented himself and the progrum over the weekend in Los Angeles. His excitement levels appears to be hardly containable when talking about the opportunity to be at Oregon and what that entails. One of their favorite things he said was with regards to Oregon's ability to be competitive nationally, and how as a result they should and will schedule quality non-conference opponents

Oregon Football was picked by the Pac-12 media members to be the 2nd-most likely team to win the conference in 2022, ahead of USC and UCLA while trailing Utah--the defending champs. The Ducks were not competitive against the Utes in 2 games in 2022, but Lanning and co. have the opportunity (and the tools) to flip at least part of the script and have stronger showings this year. The roster is certainly talented enough to compete for a Pac-12 championship.

With Fall camp beginning soon for Oregon Football, soon there will once again be on-field football to talk about as Dan Lanning prepares for his first season in Eugene as the Ducks' head coach. Since Oregon Football got a commitment from 5-star QB Dante Moore, all focus on the recruiting front has mostly turned to the trenches. Earlier this year the Ducks beat out USC for 5-star OL Josh Conerly Jr., but this time the Trojans got a verbal commitment from 2023 OL Micah Banuelos after he had been trending for the Ducks. With 4-star DL Terrance Green set to commit on Monday, all eyes are on the offensive/defensive line groups as the next big targets for Dan Lanning and his staff.

On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by John Garcia Jr., director of recruiting for Sports Illustrated. John talks about some of the OL targets the Ducks should go after now that Banuelos isn't in the cards: 4-star Miles McVay and 5-star Samson Okunlola. Especially when it comes to Okunlola, a longer recruiting timeline should favor the Ducks' chances to land a commitment.

The defensive line has a plethora of blue-chip prospects that the Ducks have in their sights in the 2023 class as well. 5-star EDGE players Matayo Uiagalelei and Samuel M'Pemba would be welcome commitments for Oregon, as would the top DL recruit in 2023 David Hicks. Those commitments aren't imminent, but John says that the Ducks remain in the running for each of those 5-star defensive linemen.

Oregon Football's first game of the 2022 season is just 5.5 weeks away, and Fall camp is getting ready to be in full swing. As conference realignment talk cools down (sort of), Ducks' fans attention should be turning to the upcoming season. Recent headlines have been rolling in on the recruiting front, and some (minor) roster changes have taken place recently as well

On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin covers a variety of recent pieces of news surrounding the Ducks' football program. Oregon was in the final 3 for 2023 3-star OL Micah Banuelos, but he decided to head to LA to play for Lincoln Riley at USC. There are other names the Ducks are after on the recruiting trail as far as offensive linemen are concerned, but the number of available big-time names are dwindling at that position.

Spencer ends the show answering a listener's question about Justin Flowe, one of the highest-rated recruits in Oregon Football history. His career has, unfortunately, been marred by injuries--leaving Oregon fans wondering about the sort of player he can be if able to play a full season in Eugene. Oregon Football fans have been wondering for the last month whether or not one day the Ducks will end up in another conference. The Big 10 may seem like the biggest prize, but it's far from the only option Oregon could end up with in the coming years. What would happen if in the future there were truly just 2 "power conferences" that had little to no regard for geographical pairings?

On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by Mike Black, co-host of the 'Ducks and Dawgs' podcast. Mike shares why he thinks the Big 10 and SEC could one day break off from the NCAA and form their own playoff. If that were to happen, would Oregon be on the outside looking in? Both Mike and Spencer, if they were in charge, would see Oregon stay in the PAC. What teams outside the west coast could Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff add?

They conclude by talking about some current events for Oregon Football with the 2022 season rapidly approaching. Recruiting has been a strength of Dan Lanning and his staff so far, but there's still one area where Duck fans are hoping he can find great success, even after the addition of Dante Moore. Lastly, Bo Nix may not have been the addition Oregon fans were hoping for this offseason--but at the very least he should be able to raise Oregon's floor at quarterback compared to last year.

Conference realignment (or lack there of) brings a lot of questions surrounding the Oregon Football program. What conference might they join? What's the landscape competitively and financially? What's the best option? All these are valid questions to ask, but no matter where Oregon ends up, the likelihood that they're able to recruit and compete at a high level remains rather high.

On today's episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin is joined by host of "The Voice of College Football" Mark Rogers (@MarkRogersTV). He is not as big of a fan of realignment and what it means for the sports, specifically the continuing loss of regionality. If mega conferences continue to emerge, the way those conferences get scheduled and how matchups are decided could get very interesting--and complicated for fans.

The Big 12 may still attempt to come after several Pac-12 schools including Oregon, who from a program pedigree standpoint may be the biggest remaining PAC team for another conference to poach. With how the Big 10 has treated the idea of adding Oregon (and Washington) so far, that could make Oregon seek out a conference that is actively seeking them--meaning the Big 12 could have an opportunity. Lastly, Mark says why he expects Oregon to once again be a competitive team in the Pac-12 with a strong roster, and thinks the Ducks' new coach and (potential) new QB Bo Nix could do enough positive things to win games.
