Oregon Football's latest verbal commitment is (for now) their highest-rated recruit in the 2023 recruiting cycle. 4-star CB Caleb Presley joins former HS teammate Josh Conerly as the second straight highest-rated recruit from the state of Washington to commit to the Ducks and Dan Lanning. With Oregon's future conference plans uncertain, what does this say about how the Ducks could recruit amidst all this uncertainty?
On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin breaks down Oregon's latest verbal commitment in the class of 2023. Presley offers a lot of upside as a CB, someone who could potentially become the next in a long line of past Oregon DBs who have gone on to succeed in the NFL. Although he's a highly-rated recruit, Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi are still looking for their first big-time, splashy recruiting success on the defensive side of the ball.
The show concludes with a couple of questions coming from a Big 10 (Wisconsin) fan. Spencer explains why Oregon's interest in the Big 10 was very real, and that they would likely jump at the opportunity in the future to join the conference if it ever came around with a formal offer. Presley, from the state of Washington, was nationally recruited by schools such as Michigan State--a trend for recruits from the state of WA in the last few years, which is slowly becoming a great place to pull major recruits.
