Locked On Guardians - Daily Podcast On The Cleveland Guardians

The Indians are postseason bound, and get there by beating the team they likely will be facing in the postseason. Jose Ramirez has a signature MVP moment, and will hopefully get the attention he deserves as the leading MVP candidate based on production this year. Even with the win there were still some managerial miscues which makes me nervous about the post season for a team that has the pitching staff to go deep if Sandy Alomar can just get out of their way.

If the season ended today and not in six days the Indians would be facing the White Sox in the post season. So we preview this series and a possible post season matchup. We take some time to talk about why Jose Ramirez should be considered a front runner for the AL MVP. We talk about the lack of power from Carlos Santana. We also dig into what the Indians likely post season rotation could be, and it is a bit surprising.

This weekend I was perfect for predictions. In addition the struggles of Maton and velocity issues of McKenzie should have been surprise to any of our listeners. We talk about these games in depth the fantastic pitching, the bad management, and the disappearing bats. We spend time on just how good Jose Ramirez has been. This team continues to win in spite of terrible management and a roster that is significantly weaker now then it was when the year began. There are seven games left for the Indians, before the post season. Enjoy the games while they are here because a deep post season run just doesn't seem likely.

Shane Bieber is pretty pretty good. He has another strong game, where the only thing that could get to him was bad management. We talk about Bieber and also the huge game by Jose Ramirez on his birthday. He has as many home runs as the number two and four players combined for the Indians. We preview the Tigers and dig into their advanced numbers. The Tigers are a team that are emerging as a potential contender over the next few years.

I ranted last night about the Indians and roster and lineup construction. Little did I know how weird the game was going to get on the way to the Indians seventh loss in a row which is the first time that has happened since 2013. We talk about the continued issues in the game, We talk about the Indians outfield some more, as they are going for historically bad levels of performance. We do a mini preview of the Tigers who are on deck for the Indians to face, and the team that are chasing them for the final playoff spot.

Ok, so I am more than a bit annoyed by Mike Freeman and Sandy Alomar. One might be able to detect it in the podcast tonight. I recorded this as the game was going on and before some of his failures in the game. Yes other players also performed poorly, but when you bat Mike Freeman second one does not deserve to win. There is so much advanced thought into lineups and the importance of the two spot that just putting Freeman there because the normal second baseman hits there is exactly why this team has failed over the past week.

We look at the advanced and bio-metric data to try and see are the Indians good? We spend time on both fangraphs and Baseball Savant and dig into the numbers to see with the season nearing the end are the Indians any good? What areas need improvement, and is there an obvious or easy answer to what has been effecting the Indians offense of late. We also dig into the excellence that has been the Indians pitching to try and figure out does this team have a chance in the post season.

After a rough weekend there is not much joy in Cleveland. The Indians have been a mess of late, but does it really matter? The post season is already locked up for the Indians. We talk about the three games, the playoff picture, and about the possible moves that could occur on Monday since it is an off day. While things are a mess right now just remember the post season is always a crap-shot at best.

This is a long one that saw us focus on a rather pitiful series by the Cleveland Indians. We talk about lineup woes, and how I would change the lineup if I was running the team. We look into some players in the minors who could help. We talk 40 man in depth, pointing out why Nolan Jones should be in play to help the Indians. There is no time to discuss the Twins after what we saw over the last three days.

Not a lot needs to be said about the whole game the Indians played, but that does not stop me from speaking. We explore the loss and all the way the Indians failed in losing two of three to the team with the second worst record in baseball. We then switch to talk about Carlos Carrasco after a twitter question about him moving up to 4th all time in strikeouts in Indians history. Listen in as we explore his place in the record books and team history in general.
