We discuss a pair of 17 year old Canadian outfielders who would make a lot of sense to the Indians. They are very different prospects, but both make a lot of sense. Then we look at more draft picks from a year ago looking at picks 19-28. It is a mix of college and prep talent, none really standout now but their are a few players who could make an impact down the line for the Indians.

We take listener mail from Zaun Zehner and Pete Podnar, who ask great questions related to the draft. I look into another player who most won't know who could be an Indian in a week. This time is a player with some major flow. Then we continue to look at players from the 2019 draft and see how last years picks are fairing.

We look at the player who is the most likely future Indian in the entire draft. Listen to find out who this player is and why it is that I am so sure he is headed to the Indians. Then we continue to look back at the 2019 draft. We look at picks from round seven through eleven. There is a player who has not played in over a year, the top prep bat performer, and a reliever who utterly dominated the lower minors.

I spend sometimes with a name to know for the 2020 draft, and also talk a bit about a Braves prospect who was his teammate in school. then we dig into the 2019 draft a year later where is the arrow on the Indians top six selections. A year later are these players looking better, worse, or the same. We will go through every single selection over the rest of the week while as providing players to know. Make sure to turn in tomorrow, as I revival the player who is a guarantee to end up an Indian come next week.

We talk about who the Indians might trade in the draft and why recent rumors, just don't measure up when one dives into the Indians approach and need. The Indians are a team that believes in Trackman data and spin rate. This is a central reason they acquired players like Phil Maton and Hunter Wood a year ago. This can not be ignored on draft day, just to make an easier fit in a mock. We have two years of Scott Barnsby data available to look back on which includes several high picks. Then we talk about the recent proposal from the owners and why it is the beginnings of a comprise which could lead to a baseball season.

The Indians cut a half a dozen players, now is the time to look in on these players. We will talk about the state of baseball. We will also discuss which teams look the best, and why it is a big asset for a team to look good right now. Why it will help them going forward in terms of off and on the field. Why it is the Angels and Athletics are going to have a hard time adding talented players and evaluators going forward.

We dig back in 90s drafts looking into the horror show which is the Indians second round picks. It is a round that is full of failure, the only player who found extended success was one the Indians traded away. The Indians third and sixth best second rounders in franchise history occurred during the 90s. the rest of the picks are a mix of players who had cups of coffee in the majors or struggled to hit AA. So sit back and listen as we dig into every single pick the Indians made, who these players were and what went wrong.

When I started looking at the Indians second round picks in the 90s the first one was Darrell Whitmore, which surprised me as I only knew him as the player the Indians lost in the expansion draft. A player I was happy they lost at the time as I did not know him, Years later one can't help but wonder what he could have been if given a chance to develop. Whitmore was one of the best safeties in UWV football history. He was the only player of color on his college team, and still managed to excel there even after a knee injury wiped out his freshman year. He would miss an entire year in the minors get jumped up to high A and find success before being taken in the Expansion draft and rushed to the majors. While the numbers in the majors were not good, he was always extremely successful in AAA, which makes one wonder would could have been. So join me in the fascinating case of Darrell Whitmore the second round pick who you likely forgot.

It is 90s week for Locked On, so we look at the first rounders of the 90s. It was an odd decade as the Indians spent half of it being terrible and the second half being one of the best teams in baseball. The Indians had 13 picks over that time and while seven of those players made the majors only four played in more than 100 games. Of those four, two were potential Hall of Fame players. The other two where disappointments due to hype and how draft pick status. It also allows for a big What IF scenario involving the 94 draft, where the Indians found a future Major League Player, but could have landed a potential star or two.

The 1967 draft was an odd one.. The first 19 picks were all high school players and 56 of the first 60 came from the high school ranks. The Indians drafted more than a few major leaguers but none that became more than a utility or back up type. there was not one player who stood out as an above average regular. While the 1967 draft helped teams like the Orioles and Cardinals built toward championships the Indians instead managed to find hitters who would not hit and pitchers who couldn't pitch. The only All Star has a career negative WAR, and his best season happened long after he left Cleveland. if you want to know why the Indians struggled so much in the 70s and 80s look no further than than drafts like this one.
