Mad Times With Madison

We're back! We apologize for the emergency last week.

In June 2020, in the height of quarantine, some teens were exploring around Duwamish head by Seattle. They discovered a suitcase in the water, and started filming a tiktok. What they didn't know until they called the police is that they found the bodies of Jessica Lewis and Austin Wenner. The viral tiktok and early discovery led to the speedy investigation to 62 year old Michael Lee Dudley, revealing the horrors.

Hey! We are so so sorry, we put off recording this one shot so we could record it on our true one year anniversary and that morning there was a family emergency that made it almost impossible to record. To keep it balanced between family and our obligations, we've decided to upload a snippet of a patreon episode in replace of recording today. It broke our heart, we're really sorry, and we will make it up to you we promise!!!

In 2004 Maura Murray packed up her dorm room, emailed her teachers and her boss that a family member died so she would be gone for the week (a family member did not die), packed up her essentials in her backpack and took off towards Vermont. After stopping a few places on surveillance, Maura crashed into a snowbank. A neighbor stopped to help her and then left to call for help. In the 10 minutes it took for police to get there, Maura seemingly vanished never to be seen again. This story is much larger than we're telling you today, it is full of very odd stories that all lead up to the biggest true crime mystery of all time.

Welcome back to one shot, where we don't drag out the story, and you get to listen to a whole case in one shot!

-

This case revolves around the very controversial novel Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. If you are not familiar with the case, or the book, it does revolve around the kidnap and obsession of a 10 year old girl. In 1948 Sally was dared to steal a notebook, and Frank La Salle pretended to be an FBI agent and told her she was in huge trouble. What happened next is heartbreaking and sickening.

Harriet lived with her 97 year old mother Velma in Ottawa Hills Ohio, a suburb of Toledo. They were active in their church, and led a quiet life enjoying the benefits of their life long hard work with a big house and new cars. However, on November 18, 1975 Harriet and Velma were both bludgeoned to death. What originally looked like a robbery gone wrong turned out to be something much more complicated and sinister.

It is allergy season in Ohio, a lot of coughs and sniffles had to be cut out which sometimes affected how the beginning of some sentences sound. It may sound like we were laughing, or a syllable was cut off, but I tried to edit it the best we could!

On April 10, 2018 sixteen year old Kyle Plush called 911 twice to explain that he was trapped in his car. His calls were not taken as serious as they could have been, and they didn't locate Kyle's car until it was too late.

Please listen to part one first! In part two of the Sylvia Likens case Madison dives into the trial that followed. We left off with Sylvia succumbing to her injuries, and Gertrude taking no responsibility. There is a lengthy and very involved trial with extremely shocking sentences, and updates.

*trigger warning* There is a lot of torture and assault on a minor in this case*

-

In part one of a two part series Madison tells us the tragic story of Sylvia Likens. In 1965 Sylvia's parents sent her and her younger sister Jenny to live with Gertrude Baniszewski and her seven children. What seemed like it should have been a straightforward boarding agreement quickly went south. Sylvia endured a type of abuse that is honestly hard to talk about. Part one will detail Sylvia's torture and murder, and part two will cover the trial afterwards. To get part two right now head over to the patreon!
