In this episode, I'm sharing five powerful lessons from freestyle skier Eileen Gu's viral response to a journalist, where she describes approaching her own mind like a scientist. I explore what it means to make your head "a not bad place to be" — including why negative thoughts are more like dust than disasters, and why fighting them often gives them more power. I also dig into neuroplasticity, the connection between our thoughts and our identity, and why controlling (or changing) our thinking is one of the most profound forms of self-determination available to us. And my favorite insight of all: what if you started each day as the person your eight-year-old self would revere? You don't have to be an Olympian to think like one.

In this episode I share a mindset shift that I've been exploring: What if taking our foot off the gas can get us where we want to go faster? It sounds counter-intuitive, but I've experienced it. After trying to improve a specific health metric, I discovered that the solution wasn’t more discipline. It was actually adding ease back in that helped me to reach my goal. And that got me wondering, Where else am I making things harder?
We often assume that growth requires strain and that doing things the “hard way” makes us more virtuous. But sometimes those beliefs actually hold us back. Whether it’s health, relationship, or personal goals, we may be blocking our own progress by insisting it only counts if it’s hard.
This episode invites you to ask: How could I make this 10% easier? This is especially powerful in midlife. By midlife, we know how to push and how to achieve things with effort. Midlife offers the opportunity to explore a new path, one that reminds us that ease, pleasure, and flexibility might not just feel better — they might actually get us better results. Take a listen and let me know what resonates!

Here's one from a few years ago that we could all use in regular rotation: Let People Be Wrong About You. That's really it, isn't it? People have opinions about us and often we want to argue with them or to tell ourselves we don't care when we really do. There's another option: I just let people be wrong about me. And then there's the corollary: I don't make myself wrong.
Enjoy! I'll be back with a new episode next week. It's all ready but the software had some glitches. I'm sure by next week they'll have it all resolved.

I recently had a conversation with a coach friend about social media. We're both uncomfortable with it, but here's the thing: for me, that discomfort is something I want to lean into. For her? It just creates anxiety and feels terrible in her body.
That conversation got me thinking—how do we know which discomfort to embrace and which to avoid?

Life can feel like a lot lately. Many of us feel overwhelmed and powerless. In this episode, I offer ways to help that might surprise you.
Based on my own experience of finally getting back to early-morning workouts, I explore the idea of "dominos" -- small changes that lead to bigger changes. I introduce three powerful human-activity dominos— connecting, creating, and contributing — and share how embracing our humanness can be an act of resistance. This episode is for you if you want to be reminded of how amazing and powerful human beings are and what good news that is for you and for all of us.

In this episode, I explore a powerful question that has stayed with me for years: What does it mean to be me, now? Borrowing a lens I first encountered in a professional workshop, I explain how asking about “now” gives us permission to make different decisions for ourself with honesty and self-compassion. Re-deciding can help when we’ve changed, when the world has changed, or when we’re judging ourselves for not handling life “better.” This episode is an invitation to meet yourself where you are, reclaim your agency, and make decisions that support yourself, in this moment.

In this episode, I explore how regret shapes our biggest decisions and why we so often see it as evidence that we’ve made the “wrong” choice. I share personal stories and client examples to illustrate the difference between regret as a human feeling and regret as a form of self-blame. This episode is about regret-proofing your life, not by avoiding regret but by refusing to weaponize it against yourself.

When we want things and can't figure out how to make them happen, we often think, "Why can't I do this? There's something wrong with me."
In this episode, I show the power of the question, “What if I’m not the problem?” through a client’s story that reveals how quickly we turn challenges into self-blame rather than curiosity.
I look at how our cultural programming and personal experiences often lead us to see systems issues as character judgments, which makes it harder to find solutions. By shifting from shame to curiosity, by asking, "What if I'm not the problem?" we open up more effective, more compassionate paths to change. This episode is about self-compassion, perspective shifts, and reclaiming agency without turning yourself (or anyone else) into the problem.

We often think about change in black-and-white, all-or-nothing ways—especially at the start of a new year -- which often sets us up to feel like failures. I call this "switch thinking" -- on or off. In this episode, I suggest "dial thinking" for meaningful, long-lasting change. I share how incremental change actually calms the brain, builds momentum, and makes it easier to keep going after inevitable setbacks -- whether we want to eat more protein or feel a greater sense of calm every day. This episode is a roadmap to inviting change that is more doable, kinder, and more likely to succeed in the long run.

In this New Year podcast episode, I share why the most powerful resolution you can make is to have your own back—a mindset that supports lasting personal growth, self-compassion, and meaningful change. I walk through five practical ways to build self-trust, including celebrating your wins, practicing compassion instead of self-criticism, honoring habits and process over outcomes, and being honest with yourself about what you truly want. This episode focuses on sustainable habits, emotional resilience, and creating a life you love without perfectionism or shame. It’s an invitation to start 2026 with clarity, kindness, and a stronger relationship with yourself.
