Outlouders, we're dropping into your feed to share something special with you. Last year we launched a new podcast called Extraordinary Stories, exclusive to MPlus subscribers. It's a show that explores the fascinating lives of incredible women with incredible stories, and we kicked things off with a five-part season called Magazine Queens. Over the next five days, you'll be transported into the glamorous and scandalous world of Aussie mags, and the women who made them, from the 70s through to the noughties. Enjoy!
----
In a chaotic Sydney share-house in the Spring of 1972, a disheveled actor was lying naked on the fraying couch of an inner-city living room. The woman who had paid Jack Thompson $400 was wondering if the actor’s left hand was really big enough to cover his modesty and get her history-making magazine past the conservative censors who’d decide if it would make it to newsagent shelves. The Editor? Ita Buttrose. The magazine? Cleo.
On this first episode of Extraordinary Stories: Magazine Queens, Australian icon Ita Buttrose, historian Bridgette Griffin-Foley and others who lived through it take us back to the birth of a sensation: Australia’s Cleo Magazine.

Following your dreams and pursuing your passions sounds very noble, but for some, finding one isn't so easy. Janet Stone's article Why we should stop telling our kids to 'follow their passions' has Jessie, Mia, and Holly wondering if passion is necessary to have a fulfilling career, or if it comes with practice...

Holly interviews Jessie, Mia and a very special guest, to ask the #1 question Outlouders want answered... what’s it like living and working with your partner? What about when your partner is the boss' son? Does it ever get a little too... much?

It’s the first day of 2022 and that means it's time for our Word Of The Year episode!
New Year's resolutions are notorious for falling over, so instead, every year we choose a word to set an intention for the year ahead of us. There's no pass or fail, word of the year is about creating a focus or filter for the months, decisions and moments to come.
Holly, Jessie and Mia look back at their words from last year before taking us through the new word to shape the mood of the 365 days to come.

So, here we are. This isn’t how we were supposed to be feeling today, is it? School holidays have started, we’re meant to be running toward an open Australia with plane tickets in hand, dying to see all the people we’ve been missing all year…But no. The news cycle is grimmer than ever.
Plus, how’s your social battery going? The interesting theory that complicates the introvert/extrovert stereotypes.
One of the world’s most famous young women has spoken about how watching porn from a young age affected her.
And our best and worst of the week which includes grinches, graduations, and… underpants.

Weird vibes. That's how we'd sum up how a lot of Australians are feeling this week. For what will be the third year in a row, depending on where you live, of course, COVID is wreaking havoc on Christmas.
Plus, a new kind of conspiracy theory has us wondering if we have a problem with public pregnancies
And, why big-ticket birthdays freak us out and our obsession with deadlines.

Boris Johnson is in a lot of trouble lately, so who better to explain what's going on with the UK Prime Minister than our very own Holly Wainwright? Ex-pat, expert and BoJo correspondent.
Plus, did Carrie and Big convince a whole generation to persevere with toxic relationships?
And Maya Angelou once said, "I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, & tangled Christmas tree lights.” How do you hold up in some festive personality tests?
