Megan Daley was excited to turn 40 –she and husband Dan were in the sweet spot of parenting years with their two daughters in primary school, she was working at the school of her dreams, and plans for overseas holidays and home renovations were coming to fruition.
Everything changed during a weekend away when her beloved Dan died from a sudden heart attack.
At 40, Megan became a young widow.
Grief enveloped her like a heavy black coat as she tried to come to terms with her new reality. Family and friends rallied about the much-loved teacher-librarian and did their best to protect her as she grieved.
But, in addition to the overwhelming emotional burden, there were practical aspects only Megan could - and continues to - work though: from joint bank accounts being frozen, to becoming the sole income earner, to carrying certified death certificates at all times to prove Dan has died to argumentative strangers.
Megan shares her story with clarity, grace, and advice (and more than a dash of dark humour along the way!).
So, what happens when grief changes you forever?
We find out in FORTY.
