Candice Alaska (IG: @understandingbpd and @candicealaska) joins the podcast for a second week to discuss how oppression and capitalism affect our mental wellness. Candice and Laurie also discuss the impacts of ableism, racism, sexism and colonialism on mental health. This episode includes a short discussion about the upcoming new Medical Assistance in Dying laws in Canada.
Also a note directly from Candice for the listeners: I want folks to know that while we can and should use this diagnosis as a portal to investigating what needs to change in our society so that this type of suffering doesn't keep repeating, I don't mean that there's anything wrong with any individuals bearing this diagnosis, nor that all mental health differences and neurodivergences are always an indication that there's something 'wrong' with our society that needs to change. If it's possible to add that to the show notes, that would be great!
This episode featured Laurie Edmundson who previously was a co-host of this project. You can find her at https://www.laurieedmundson.com and on IG @laurieanned where you will find ways to access The Super Feelers Club and other projects she works on.
