Jane Clayson Johnson is an award-winning journalist widely known for her work at CBS News, ABC News, and on the nationally syndicated NPR program, On Point. For more than two decades, she traveled the world, covering domestic and international stories and interviewing the biggest newsmakers of the day. At CBS News, Jane was co-anchor of The Early Show, a regular correspondent for 48 Hours, and an investigative reporter for “Eye on America” segments for the CBS Evening News.
In 2018, Jane published her book Silent Souls Weeping, sharing an open and frank exploration of her own experience with clinical depression. She goes on to share stories gathered from interviews with more than 150 men, women, and teens who have suffered from depression.
Today, Jane and I have a very candid, open conversation about both of our experiences with depression, what she's learned from interviewing others, and her advice to those suffering from this same trial in life, or to those with loved ones who suffer from mental illness.
If you are struggling with mental health issues yourself. You're not alone. There are other people out there who have walked your path, and who have walked it successfully. It's not without pain, and it's not without heartache. But there is HOPE and there is HELP.

Thanksgiving is NEXT THURSDAY!!! Are you ready? Are you hosting? Are you wondering how the heck to cook everything and have it ready AND HOT at the same time? Wondering how to cook a turkey without drying it out? What to do to prepare, or what to make ahead, or what you can buy this week, or how much turkey you should actually make to have leftovers, or if you can defrost a turkey in the microwave the day of?
If you've answered yes to ANY of these questions, then today's podcast is just for you. I'm getting ready to host my very first Thanksgiving dinner like a real grown-up and since my mom, Si Foster of A Bountiful Kitchen, is away living in Spain serving a full-time mission, I knew I needed to call her up and have a candid convo asking all my questions about what I needed to do to be prepared.
So I figured, why not have this conversation on the podcast and share all her many, MANY years of wisdom on how to put on a Thanksgiving feast (and have it hot all at the same time!) with all of you!

When Neil and I worked a 12-step program years ago, we both took on a serious commitment to “continue to take personal inventory, and when you’re wrong, promptly admit it.”
This COMMITMENT has completely changed our relationship for the better. But it’s not always easy! And it certainly doesn’t come naturally for me.
Today, we’re sharing a few stories from our own MARRIAGE of how we’ve applied this, exactly what it looks, feels, and sounds like, and how it can change all of your relationships for the better too.
The rent is so high when you hold on to pride or resentment. While the payout is so huge when you learn to apologize to the people you love as QUICKLY as possible, and just let love conquer pride, even (and especially) when you’re not at fault.

If you've had babies or you're preparing to have one, you know that one of the VERY trickiest things to do is to figure out HOW to get your baby to sleep through the night!
Today, I'm sharing an interview with Jess Hudson of Sleep Shop Consulting, based here in Orange County. Jess shares all about her best tips and tricks for getting babies to sleep.
Jess reached out to me when I posted on Instagram about Harry going through a 4-month sleep regression in the form of a several-day-in-a-row nap strike. Jess’ tips magically helped Harry take naps again, transition out of his swaddle, and give everyone in our house back the sanity of a consistent schedule.
That’s why I invited Jess to come on the podcast and share some of her knowledge with all of you. We talk through a ton of YOUR questions that were submitted through my DMs and some of the basics that she teaches each of her clients she works with.
Jess and I both believe the most important fundamentals start with encouraging your baby to sleep all night long.

The word REMEMBER originated from the Latin meaning “called to mind” or “mindful” and today we are going to talk about why remember is such an important word to us, in our lives, and in our spiritual journey.
We share some personal and sacred spiritual and life experiences about remembering, and examples from the scriptures and from the Savior on why the word remember is, as Spencer W Kimball once said, “perhaps the most important word in the English language.”
Remembrance has been an impactful element in our spiritual journey.
And if it’s something that you feel has also strengthened you in the past, it’s very important that you write it down, talk about it, or share it with someone because building your testimony solely on a few miracles that happen in your life may not be as strong. They will start to fade and they may not come back to your remembrance as much. So doing those will help bring things to your remembrance and continue to strengthen you in the future.

If you’re a Christian (and even if you’re not!) there’s a good chance you’ve heard people talk about the new TV series about Jesus called The Chosen.
The Chosen is the first-ever multi-season series television show about Jesus Christ. It’s the #1 highest crowd-funded project of all-time at $10 million from over 19,000 people, and it has already been translated into 50 languages and counting.
Today, I get to sit down with the director and creator of The Chosen, Dallas Jenkins, and ask him all about the inspiration, the behind-the-scenes magic, and the miracles that have taken place while filming, producing, and directing this show that has swept the world with a new passion for learning about the character of Christ.
So many people like me have become super fans of this project because it’s giving us an entirely new perspective on what Jesus must really be like as a person, and this ignites our desire even more to know Jesus and understand His life as recorded in scripture.

If you’re in the midst of a trial that feels like it’s lasting forever and you cannot understand why, or if you’ve ever asked yourself “when will this suffering end?” then today’s podcast is for you.
Neil and I are going to talk about long-suffering and trials that seem to last forever. We felt this would be a good topic because a lot of people are going through so many hard things right now. We’re talking about the reasons we go through trials that last a long time, what we’re supposed to do about them, and some comforting words of hope that we turn to, especially during challenging times.
Most hard things don't last forever. And someday, we're going to get to heaven where our Heavenly Father is going to make everything right, and perfect justice and mercy will take over. And so, we want to encourage everyone to hang in there, have faith, and just keep going.

Jennifer Anderson is a mom, wife, registered dietitian, and creator behind the brand Kids Eat in Color. When Jennifer was a new mom, she learned that feeding kids is sometimes tricky. When her first kid fell off the growth chart, she realized how much effort can go into feeding a child.
With a Master’s of Science in Public Health, in International Health and Human Nutrition from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, Jennifer completed her dietetics coursework through the University of Northern Colorado. Through the same institution, she organized her own dietetic internship, focusing on policy and organizational management in the Washington DC metro area.
Jennifer is passionate about teaching parents that they’re doing a great job – regardless of whether their kids eat their veggies (or whatever food) today – and to enjoy their kids and their mealtimes instead of feeling angry, defeated, and frustrated.
Today, Jennifer shares some wonderful insights into how we, as parents, can improve our child’s feeding while holding a loving, firm boundary around meals, and how we can feel more connected to our kids – because our connection to our family and our children is so much more important than whether they eat a carrot or not!

Is it just us, or has life thrown you a whole bunch of curveballs? Do you have a lot of crossroads coming up in your life? Does it sometimes feel like the whole world is falling apart and that darkness, destruction, and division are stronger than ever?
Today, we’re going to talk about the BIGGEST decisions we’ve made in our marriage. We’re sharing our exact process for making important decisions in our life, and how we make sure we’re making the RIGHT decisions every single time.
We also share one big fail that taught us an expensive but essential lesson that would guide us through every other major decision for the rest of our lives. And we leave you with a message of HOPE that will hopefully help you as you meet up with all the big crossroads in your life.
In this episode, you will hear:
Scriptures that have guided us through our process of making decisions:
“Behold, I say unto you, that you must study it out in your mind; then you must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your bosom shall burn within you; therefore, you shall feel that it is right.”
“Cast not away, therefore, your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.”
“...Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.”

One year ago, Abi Ayres went viral on insta stories with a haircut that she named Carol and attracted a large following of people drawn to her hilarious personality and refreshing real-take on everyday life. What you might not know is the spiritual back-story of what led up to that viral moment in her life. Today Abi shares that story with me and some really deep, insightful takeaways on how to get clear answers from God through meditation on what His path is for you. She also shares some of the best lessons she’s learned during covid-19 and how she’s coached women in the past to strip away the things that they might normally identify with to see their true inherent worth.
