My Secret Recipe for a Viral Reel

Today, I’m sharing how to create engaging and share-worthy reels that gets everyone talking. I’m breaking down the six steps in my secret recipe for a viral reel. Now, let’s jump in!

Step #1: Grab Attention with a Strong Hook

First things first, your reel needs to grab attention right from the start. The first few seconds of your reel or any social media content are crucial for capturing your audience’s attention. People scroll quickly, so you need to make an instant impact to stop the scroll.

Use a catchy title and captivating visuals in the first few seconds to hook your audience. You can use a stunning senior portrait showcasing your unique style or a behind-the-scenes sneak peek. The goal is to make sure the visuals are eye-catching and intriguing.

Step #2: Keep it Short and Sweet

Once you’ve captured your audience’s attention, remember that it is limited. Shorter content tends to perform better on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Concise content is more likely to be watched until the end, increasing engagement and reach.

Keep your reel concise and to the point. Aim for 15-30 seconds max to deliver your message or showcase your work effectively. Remember, less is often more in the world of viral content. For example, you can show off your best work or share a quick tip that leaves viewers wanting more.

Step #3: Show Off Your Creativity and Uniqueness

Now, let’s talk about incorporating creativity and uniqueness into your senior portraits. In a sea of content, standing out requires creativity and a unique perspective.

To begin, showcase what makes your senior portraits special and why clients should choose you over others. Think outside the box. Experiment with different angles, lighting techniques, and editing styles to make your photos stand out.

Also experiment with different shooting locations, creative poses, or innovative editing techniques. Share before-and-after shots to highlight your editing skills and the transformation you bring to senior portraits. Showcase your signature style and personality in every shot.

Step #4: Create Engaging Content Beyond Reels

While reels are fantastic for engagement, don’t forget about other viral-worthy content. Carousels, graphics, and stories are powerful, too! Use these formats to share tips, client testimonials, before-and-after transformations, and behind-the-scenes stories. Variety keeps your audience engaged. Mixing up your content with carousels, graphics, and stories adds depth to your social media presence and caters to different viewer preferences.

Here are some examples:

  • Create a carousel post featuring a series of senior portraits with captions that tell a story or share valuable tips.
  • Design graphics that showcase your pricing packages or highlight client testimonials.
  • Use Instagram Stories to give a sneak peek into your photo shoots or share behind-the-scenes moments.
  • Mix it up to keep your audience engaged and coming back for more.

Step 5: Craft Strong Titles and Captions

Titles and captions serve as your chance to hook viewers, convey your message, and encourage engagement. Compelling titles and captions can make your content more shareable and memorable. Use attention-grabbing headlines that pique curiosity and encourage viewers to watch or read more.

Craft captions that share personal stories, client experiences, or photography tips to add value and build connections with your audience. Keep captions concise, relevant, and engaging – ask questions, share stories, and add personality to your brand voice.

Step 6: Harness the Power of Hashtags and Tagging

Lastly, hashtags and tagging are essential for increasing visibility. That means reaching a broader audience, and connecting with fellow photographers, clients, and industry influencers. By properly using hashtags and tagging relevant accounts can amplify your reach and engagement. Research trending hashtags in the senior photography niche and use them strategically.

Tag clients, collaborators, and relevant accounts to expand your reach and foster engagement. For instance, tag a clothing boutique if you’re showcasing styled senior sessions with their outfits. These are simple and quick ways to increase your visibility.
