Narcissists and Age-Gap in Relationships plus Q&A - Narcissists often have a preference for younger partners. This is because they view them as status-enhancers and easier to control and enhance their own status. Age-gap relationships may also occur when one partner has money or other resources that can be used to control the relationship. This is a problem because narcissists can be highly charming, manipulative, and persuasive.

Mental health research has also shown that people with narcissistic personalities, narcissistic personality disorder or cluster b traits are more likely than others to seek out older partners. The authors of the study suggested that narcissists and even the covert narcissist might be attracted to older people because they’re more likely to have more money or status and therefore enhance his or her own self-image.
