In this episode, we have a fascinating discussion with former Blondie
bassist and philosopher Gary Lachman, whose lengthy bibliography as an
esotericist and researcher covers an assortment of mystical movements
and characters that together define an ancient -- yet surprisingly
modern -- mode of thinking.
Lachman describes how he made the transformation from rock star to
underground intellectual after years of wandering in the so-called
wilderness. Through the work of British writer and social critic Colin
Wilson, Lachman was inspired to engage with occulted mysteries and
research the strange and fascinating phenomenon in his own life,
including a lifelong series of precognitive dreams.
While he initially intended to teach philosophy after retiring from the
music industry, he later found Academia stifling, and turned his
attention to writing about our weird and wonderful universe after
working at a famous metaphysical bookshop in the Los Angeles area.
We talk about the evolution of human consciousness, as laid out in the
work of German philosopher Jean Gebser, and how that process of
evolution involves both the construction of something new and the
destruction of older forms.
We also discuss likely ontologies that can accommodate high strangeness,
and what individual people can do to help encourage humanity's
collective evolution.
Lachman also describes how the occult is alive and well in modern
society, explaining how Donald Trump and his allies deployed such
methodologies to help get him elected, and how Pepe the Frog is an
example of such efforts. This was covered in Lachman's book, Dark Star
Rising.

In this episode, we interview Professor Jeffrey Kripal about the nature
of transcendent experiences, visionary encounters, UFO sightings, and
more, examining how these various phenomena challenge humanity's
operative worldview and push boundaries.
Because they don't fit, they are either neglected or ignored.
Kripal is the J. Newton Rayzor Professor of Religion at Rice University,
and has for years been an advocate of taking such experiences
seriously, and on their own terms.
We discuss his book, "The Flip," and how the intellectual and
psychological transformation described in those pages is happening more
and more frequently to a broad number of people, but particularly to
scientists.
Many of humanity's greatest thinkers and innovators, both in the past
and presently, believed themselves to be in contact with non-human
intelligences. We talk about the nature of these intelligences, the
nature of humanity, and how one seems to invariably reflect the other.

Other questions we explore: How do the humanities fit into a
reinvigorated study of the strange and seemingly impossible? How do we
think about such things when our cultural authorities keep telling us
they're necessarily nonsense? What do these experiences say about both
the witnesses and whatever it is that we're encountering?
Also, has our current secular, materialist worldview contributed to the
problems we're now facing across the globe, and what can be done to fix
these issues? Should those who've flipped be trying to spread that
message?

of a number of document and record collections coming from Jacques
Vallee, Professor John Mack, and others -- and how Kripal hopes these
records will form the backbone of a transformative new field of study.

In this episode, we speak with author and expert Mitch Horowitz to
explore the realms of esotericism, hermetica and the occult, while also
attempting to understand how these worlds intersect with ufology and the
broader search for NHI. Are they different ways of trying to describe
the same reality?
Horowitz explains how he views reality, and how that view includes an
invisible, nonmaterial realm that parallels our own. We discuss the

In this episode, author and researcher Mike Clelland describes how his
years and years of research have yielded a huge number of stories that
link sightings of owls with UFOs, NHI, synchronicities, death, and
spiritual awakening.
Culled from his own life and those of countless witnesses, these tales
of connection run the gamut from merely odd sightings of animals to
hugely transformative mystical experiences that point to a deeper, and
largely unknown, facet of reality.
Clelland describes how he felt compelled to write his book, "The
Messengers," after a series of seemingly inexplicable events came
together in a way that silenced his inner skeptic and convinced him that
reality is much deeper and more mysterious than we pretend.
According to his research, the owl can be a symbol that serves to unlock
human consciousness and lift day-to-day experience into a realization
of the transcendent. It often alerts witnesses and contactees to the
fact of their interaction with The Other, and is consistently sighted at
moments of profound and personal meaning.
We also discuss the role of the owl in folk lore and mythology, as well
as shamanism, breaking down how its seemingly supernatural abilities to
silently come and go gave rise to mystical notions of their power, ideas
that -- according to testimony -- hold some truth.

This episode of Neon Galactic features a beautiful conversation with
writer, musician, and music journalist Mike Fiorito, and centers around
UFOs and his newest book, For All We Know.
This wonderfully written short fiction novel explores the transcendent
experiences of one man over the course of his life, and the mechanisms
by which he -- and by extension, all of us -- can access the liminal
world and achieve an expanded state of consciousness.
Rare for a book about UFOs, Fiorito's fictional narrative is powerfully
written, and ambitious in its attempts to communicate the nature of
these experiences in a literary format. It's a beautiful rendering of
episodes many of us have had, but don't necessarily have the language or
permission to embrace.
It explores the use of entheogens as a means to raise consciousness, and
also points out that humanity at this point in its development has
forgotten that simple, and rather mundane, experiences -- like reading a
book or listening to a song -- offer us a way to lift ourselves out of
the crushingly ordinary workaday world and achieve a kind of gnosis.
We also discuss Fiorito's abiding interest in ufology, what he thinks of
recent developments in the fight for disclosure, and how his passion
for the subject has fueled a broader search for spirit and community.

August 07, 2024 Chris Avis -- Neon Galactic -- Episode 31
On this episode of Neon Galactic, we interview Dr. Christopher Avis, a
physics instructor and climatologist from Camosun College in British
Columbia, who had his worldview transformed after taking Ketamine as
part of a treatment program for depression.
The process opened him up to notions beyond materialism, and made him
rethink how he viewed the transcendent, subjects like NDEs, OBEs,
spirituality, and science, among other things. Suddenly, what had long
seemed like woo was a visceral encounter with a different, but very much
real, world beyond the senses.
That experience, coupled with a re-introduction to the sacred that was
facilitated by the ketamine program organizers, has grounded Avis in his
own body and emphasized to him the importance of community and
connectedness.
His transformation occurred as the UAP discussion in the United States
gained international attention through the whistleblower testimony of
David Grusch before a congressional committee, and the introduction of
the UAP Disclosure Act of 2023. Both developments reawakened in Avis a
curiosity and passion for the UFO subject, which he realized was telling
all of us something very important about the nature of reality.
Like so many others, Avis then went on a deep dive of research and study
that led him to the work of Jeffrey Kripal, Diana Pasulka, James
Madden, and many others.
In this conversation, we discuss the nature of “the flip,” per Kripal;
the importance of the UFO subject; how academia and the sciences will
respond if materialism meets its timely end; the risks taken by
open-minded scientists asserting interest in these sorts of topics; and
how educational institutions are facing a number of challenges in this
moment that will be even further complicated by a revolution in the
sciences.
We also marvel at how so many of the issues now facing humanity are
connected, either directly or tangentially, to the UAP subject and its
many facets.

On this episode of Neon Galactic, we chat with two of the finest minds
in the UAP subject and come to see some rather startling possibilities
about the nature of the UAP/UFO/NHI phenomenon and its interest in us.
Dr. James Madden, author and professor of philosophy, joins experiencer
and author Matthew Roberts and myself to examine the contact phenomenon
and break down what those collective experiences may be telling us.
Roberts’ book “Initiated” chronicles his own engagement with non-human
intelligences, and describes how this contact led him on an intellectual
journey through such subjects as philosophy, history, Jungian
psychology and more.
In addition to his experience onboard the USS Roosevelt during the now
famed Gimbal engagement, Roberts later underwent a psychic
transformation brought on by these non-human intelligences, and from
that experience gained important insight into the personal and
psychological impacts of contact.
These impactful incidents occurred as Roberts worked at the Office of
Naval Intelligence, an experience there that was not unique to him. Were
they being targeted?
We also discuss how Academia might ultimately be able to accommodate the
coming intellectual shifts associated with disclosure, but not before a
rather drastic humbling. How will it feel when they all suddenly

Zimmerman from the University of Colorado at Boulder, whose long-time

On this episode of Neon Galactic, we interview Reinerio Hernandez, whose
work and research into UFOs and other contact modalities has been a
major contribution to the understanding of what’s actually being
experienced by thousands of people all over the world.
For him it started more than a decade ago with a paranormal encounter in
his living room, one that disappeared his wife for over an hour and
healed his dying dog.
This experience — plus many others — set off a chain of events and
encounters that changed Rey’s life and helped him to advance our
understanding of what reality might actually be.
His research — which can be found at www.agreaterreality.com — includes a
one-of-a-kind statistical survey of some 4300 experiencers. The
information uncovered there flies in the face of many long-standing
assumptions about the nature and purpose of NHI contact.
His primary conclusion is that virtually all paranormal phenomena stems
from different forms of contact with a greater, likely non-physical
realm that somehow connects with ours. This reality is one experienced
through contact with UFOs, as well as near death experiences,
out-of-body experiences, remote viewing, ghost encounters, and more.
Hernandez has partnered with a long list of brilliant doctors,
scientists, parapsychologists, and others, who share his insights and
have helped write and edit his several books.
As head of the Consciousness and Contact Research Institute, Hernandez
also describes the next steps needed to further this research, and
explains why he believes the other world is pushing humanity to change.
