Dawn Ellerbe joined Vanderbilt University as the inaugural Assistant Vice
Chancellor for Athletic Communications and Senior Associate Athletic Director
    in March 2023.
Previously at California State University Northridge (CSUN), Ellerbe served as
Associate Athletics Director for Marketing, Branding and Fan Development. In

external operations for the 19 NCAA varsity programs at CSUN, including

No stranger to the SEC, Ellerbe spent four years at South Carolina early in
her career as Director of Marketing. During that time, a number of programs
experienced overall growth in fan affinity, attendance and ticket sales. She
created successful strategies for new community outreach campaigns
contributing to the literacy, health and wellness, and philanthropic initiatives
for the department. In 2022, she received the Southeastern Conference
Trailblazer Award for contributions to the growth of women’s athletics in the
SEC in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Title IX.
A New York native, Ellerbe earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from
South Carolina and master’s degree in communications from Wyoming. A
U.S. Olympian and a Pan American Games gold medalist in the hammer
throw, Ellerbe placed seventh in the 2000 Olympic games and has won 16
national titles. She is a member of the University of South Carolina Athletics
Hall of Fame and is one of only three track and field athletes to have their
jersey retired by South Carolina, where she won four NCAA titles, five SEC
championships, and was a six-time All-American for the Gamecocks.
Ellerbe has completed the NCAA Dr. Charles Whitcomb Leadership Institute
and the NCAA Pathways Program. She is a member of Women Leaders in
College sports and has served on the NCAA Women’s Basketball
Advancement Committee. This spring, she will be inducted into both the South
Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame and the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame for her
contributions to athletics and the sport of track and field.

Tyler Gillum, @Gillum66 on Twitter, @TheSavbananas on Twitter, Email: [email protected] Netflix: Bananaland
Tyler has been the Head Coach of the Savannah Bananas since 2018. In his tenure, the Bananas have had over 30 players drafted into the MLB while also winning Back-to-Back CPL Championships in 2021 & 2022 before going ALL-IN on Banana Ball. Tyler played a role in creating the original Banana Ball rules and attending the first ever Banana Ball game at Lander University in the Fall of 2018.
In 2017, Gillum set a life goal to “have a positive impact on 1,000,000 people”. On that journey, he found the Bananas, and together they have been leading the charge in creating what ESPN called “The Greatest Show In Sports”. Banana Ball has traveled to over 50 cities selling out stadiums nationwide. In 2024 alone, the Bananas played in 30 cities plus 6 MLB stadiums with over 1,000,000 fans in attendance. In 2025, they will play in 17 MLB stadiums, 4 football stadiums surpassing 2,000,000 fans.
Before Banana Ball, he coached college baseball for 13 years. He spent 11 years at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, Arizona from 2011-2022. During his time at SMCC, Gillum was the Associate Head Coach and the Director of Exercise Science, overseeing all the Strength & Conditioning for Athletics. During those college years, he coached 10 summers of summer collegiate baseball spending time in the Cape Cod League and winning 3 Championships in the Texas Collegiate League.
Additionally, Gillum is a keynote speaker at conventions and clinics around the country specializing in culture, team building, infield development and baserunning. His motto “Bet On Yourself” has raised thousands of dollars to buy custom “Bet On Yourself” baseball gloves for kids across America.
Gillum out kicked his coverage by marrying Danielle Gillum in 2019. Together they have a 4-year-old son named Camden.

Tyson Lee’s life began in Mississippi, born into a biracial family where his mother and father were never married. This complex family dynamic presented numerous challenges, as Tyson navigated a world marked by the struggles of a divided home life. Economic instability made it difficult, so he, his mother, and two siblings moved in with his grandmother before middle school. Tyson experienced hardship outside of the home when another man refused to let him date his daughter because of Tyson’s father. This rejection opened Tyson’s eyes in new ways. These early experiences of loss, compounded by seeing his mother sacrifice and work so hard to make ends meet and meeting a half-sister in his early twenties, pushed Tyson to chart a course for a different, more hopeful future. It also paved the way for understanding the importance of compassion for others in a broken and unpredictable world.
Tysons resilience extended beyond his personal life and into his athletic pursuits. Despite his talent and work ethic, he was overlooked by college recruiters as a quarterback due to his height. Undeterred, Tyson received a full-ride scholarship to Itawamba Community College to play football and played for two seasons before choosing to walk on to the football team at Mississippi State University, where he earned his place as the starting quarterback. His journey on the football field was emblematic of his broader life experience: overcoming adversity and defying expectations through faith, determination, strategy, and the help of others. Throughout his life, Tyson has achieved remarkable academic, athletic, and professional success, including being the first ever player to be named a First Team JUCO All-American and an Academic All-American at Itawamba Community College (ICC), Region 23 Player of the Year, and an inductee into the Athletic Hall of Fame at ICC. As a
team captain at Mississippi State University, he demonstrated leadership both on and off the field. He and his
lovely wife started a cinnamon roll business which began in their house called LoveLee Rolls and they built a commercial kitchen in their backyard, moved their product into 2 states and over 25 grocery stores, and learned much about one another through late nights, early mornings and many farmers markets. Tyson has been in education for the last five years and he currently serves as the Head of Lower School at Veritas School in Richmond, VA.
Yet, above all these achievements, Tyson values his role as a devoted husband and father of four. He attributes his journey and successes to the grace of God, underscoring the faith that has guided him through life's challenges and triumphs. His life speaks to the transformative power of the love of Jesus Christ, relationships, noble pursuits, and asking questions.
He seeks to instill this same hope in the lives of others!
