Nick Hudson is an actuary with broad international experience in finance, who has settled into a career as a private equity investor. He is a man of wide-ranging interests—an avid reader of canonical literature, a classical music aficionado, and an enthusiastic amateur ornithologist. He has been invited to speak on various topics including epistemology, corporate governance, investment management, and more recently, the Covid 19 pandemic.
Nick is the founder and chairman of Pandemics Data and Analytics (PANDA), a South African organization founded in April 2020 with the mission of promoting open science, human agency, and courageous societies. However, in just that short period of time, the organization now has members from more than 30 countries. They aim to empower the public with accurate information thereby enabling individuals to exercise freedom of choice and preserve human liberties and free societies, which are at more threat now than at anytime since World War II. PANDA is composed of a group of multi-disciplinary professionals who perceived the global reaction to Covid, and lockdown in particular, as overwrought and damaging to the point of causing a great tear in the fabric of society. They are politically and economically independent, and seek to develop science-based explanations and test them against international data that can then be used as a proven foundation for recommendations to governments and other institutions to develop actual science-based policy.
PANDA stands for open science and rational debate, for replacing flawed science with good science and for retrieving liberty and prosperity from the clutches of a dystopian “new normal”.
