Pia Miranda has a cracker of a year. Until recently, she was best known for her starring role as Josephine in the cult Australian coming-of-age film 'Looking For Alibrandi' where she played a schoolgirl.
She's worked solidly for the past 20 years since then as an actress and voiceover artist and she's had two kids.
But in early 2019, Pia received an email that would change her and her family's life. It was an invitation to be on Australian Survivor, the reality show where you get dropped on a deserted island and you have to....survive, via a series of physically and mentally grueling challenges, with almost no food.
At 46 years old and far from a professional athlete, Pia played hard. Hard enough to win. And what happened next came as a brutal shock, on that she's still trying to process.
You don't have to be a Survivor fan to enjoy this episode. Pia's story is fascinating.

It was 2018. Late at night. Melissa Hopkins was sitting in her bed. She was about to reveal something deeply personal about herself to the world, something that she had been suffering with for over 20 years but had never spoken about publicly, but on the eve of R U OK day in 2018, a suicide prevention day in Australia that aims to start conversations about mental health, Melissa decided to speak out.
You see Melissa is the Head of Consumer Marketing at Optus which essentially means she is a very important person in a very big company but unbeknownst to her colleagues, both past and present, Melissa had been suffering from severe depression since she was a teenager.
It was something she didn’t talk about publicly in case people’s perception of her changed as a person and as a boss.
But since that moment, her world has gotten so much better. She joins Mia to talk about it...

Tully Smyth rose to fame after appearing on Big Brother in 2013. She also unintentionally became the show's villain when she cheated on her longtime girlfriend with a guy she met in the house.
Since then, Tully has lived a lot of her life in the public eye and has carved out a living as an influencer. A term she really struggles with.
Tully is the host of our brand new podcast, Social Squad, which goes behind-the-scenes of the perfectly curated lives of some of Australia's most successful influencers.
But before we handed her the microphone and got her to ask the questions, Mia had some questions of her own. And when you hear about what Tully has been through, especially in the four weeks leading up to this interview, you’ll understand why.
Here’s part two of Mia’s conversation with Tully...

As an activist, law student and writer, Vanessa channels her frustration about being removed from her family into a passion to drive change for her people.
