When you meet 98-year-old Holocaust survivor Eddie Jaku, it’s hard not to be happy.
He’s full of life, advice and stories about a world few people remember. A world few people can imagine. A world many people want to forget about. But not Eddie. Because that dark world ended up giving him the biggest gift he could have asked for; the gift of life.
On the 10th of November 1938, Eddie Jaku’s world changed forever when a group of Nazi’s knocked on his front door.
Eddie was a Jew living in Germany, and for the next 12 years he was in and out of concentration camps, including Auschwitz. He lost his mother and father and escaped and was caught, countless times.
At 98, soon to be 99 in April, Eddie is a remarkable storyteller. And on this episode of No Filter, he tells Mia everything he remembers.

Mia’s back with more candid conversations that count in 2019, and she’s kicking it off with a woman who couldn’t be more opposite to her.
For the past eight years, Miriam Lancewood and her husband Peter have lived in the wilderness of New Zealand. No phones. No internet. No bed. No refrigerator. No electricity. No concept of time.
They’re completely off the grid. And while that sounds terrifying to some, they wouldn’t have it any other way.
So what happens when you’re thousands of kilometres away from the nearest town and you get sick...or you want to know what time it is and you don’t have a watch or a phone?
As you can imagine, Mia had a lot of questions….

Welcome to the No Filter summer series, where we look back at some of our most popular interviews over the past 3 years. Today, it's Mia and Liane Moriarty talking about her life since the release of Big Little Lies, we hope you enjoy it...
She’s been called the 'Obama of popular fiction'. An author whose books all turn to gold. But at home, Liane Moriarty is considered to be a suburban housewife who writes for a hobby. Australia’s most successful author, this mother-of-two from Sydney has sold over six million books. She's one of the few authors in the world to ever have three books on the New York Times bestseller lists at the ONE time. So how did she do it? She joins Mia to discuss her latest book, rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous, and what it was like when she found out Nicole Kidman wanted to buy her bestseller.

Welcome to the No Filter summer series, where we look back at some of our most popular interviews over the past 3 years. When we asked you guys, our listeners, what some of your favourite No Filters were over the past few years, there were a lot of votes for Hughesy. So here we are....
Dave Hughes has one of the most iconic voices in Australian media. From hosting the Logies to touring internationally, to his radio and television show, Hughesy, as he’s affectionately known may even be the most recognisable comedian in Australia at the moment.
And he reckons it’s all because he hasn’t had a drink since he was 22 years old.
On this episode, he talks to me about how his career started, his friendship with radio co-host Kate Langbroek and why he really left The Project.

Welcome to the No Filter summer series, where we look back at some of our most popular interviews over the past 3 years. Esther Perel is a relationship expert, and to this date - Mia's interview with her has had over 100,000 downloads. So we thought it would be the perfect time to revisit it...
When couples therapist Esther Perel speaks to large groups of people about her area of expertise, sex and relationships - she asks the audience to raise their hands if their lives have ever been affected by infidelity. Maybe it was one of their parents. Maybe it was their own partner. Maybe it was them. Or maybe they were the third party. She says around 80 percent of the room raises their hand.
Esther is an author, a psychotherapist and a self-described expert in relationships and sexuality. She has a cult following to rival that of Brene Brown or Elizabeth Gilbert, and on this episode of No Filter she speaks to Mia about why it has never been easier to have an affair, the reason happy people cheat and how infidelity can sometimes make a relationship better.
Get ready to listen to the most fascinating conversation about love, cheating and relationships you have ever heard.

Welcome to the No Filter summer series, where we look back at some of our most popular interviews over the past 3 years. As the Pink Test is about to kick off in Sydney, we thought we'd take a listen to Jane McGrath's best friend Tracy Bevan...
As our Australian Cricketers turn the SCG into a blushing meadow for the Pink Test, it's a reminder of Jane McGrath's legacy. The mother of two, and wife to cricket fast bowler Glenn McGrath formed a foundation that has changed lives. But she also forged a friendship like no other.
This is not a story about breast cancer, it's the story of Jane McGrath and her hilarious best friend, Tracy Bevan. Their relationship went to the darkest places you can imagine and then lifted them higher than they thought possible, over and over. It’s a story of how far you will go for your best friend. And how a friendship can transcend death.

Welcome to the No Filter summer series, where we look back at some of our most popular interviews over the 3 years. First up? The man known for his conversations, Richard Fidler...
Richard Fidler doesn’t like to be interviewed. But he does like interviewing other people. He records up to 300 Conversations a year as the host of Conversations on ABC radio. But he very rarely gets interviewed himself.
So when Mia asked him onto my podcast a few years ago, he was a little hesitant. But, ever the professional - he let her pick his brains about what goes into making the perfect interview. His time in the Doug Anthony Allstars, life as a parent and his best advice...
Here’s the interview king, Richard Fidler…

You’re at work, doing your job and a male coworker tries to slut-shame you in front of the entire office, taunting you about how many men he thinks you’ve slept with.
In most workplaces, this would be a sackable offense. But in the Australian Parliament, it’s just another day in the office for Sarah Hanson Young.
Or at least it was until one day in mid-2018 when she decided she’d had a gutful of the slimy slurs and back-channel rumors about her sex life and her character.
So, she spoke up.
And ever since that moment, Sarah has had to defend her reputation as a mother, a politician and a woman to her colleagues and the Australian public. She’s been bullied, slut-shamed and attacked online. And on behalf of herself and every other woman who‘s been slut-shamed at work, she decided she’s not going to take it anymore.
Sarah has written a book called En Garde about sexism in Australian politics, and she joins Mia to talk about it...
