最近外网有个超火的梗（a viral internet meme）——“Nothing beats a Jet2holiday”（没有什么能超过Jet2holiday）。今天我们要聊的是这个梗Jet2holiday背后的故事。

Jet2holidays 是一个英国主打高性价比的旅游公司（a real budget travel company）. But online, because of its advertisement, Jet2holiday has turned into a viral meme.

“Nothing beats a Jet2holiday.” 这句广告词的设计初衷是向用户传递品牌“优惠力度极大（generous discount）”的核心卖点。广告中明确提到：选择Jet2holidays，每人可节省50英镑（约合人民币450元）。

然而，这种过于理想化的画面引发网友调侃，人们开始用这段广告音频去配上自己旅行中的糟糕体验（travel disasters），一些很糗的（embarrassing）遭遇等等。The contrast effect (反差感) made this advertisement quickly become popular and turn into a meme.

值得一提的是，这则广告的“笑点”还藏在口音里：在美国，人们用“vacation”指代假期，而这作为英国公司的广告，自然采用了英国人更常用的“holiday”——这一细节也成了网友们玩梗时的“隐藏彩蛋”。

02. Jet2holiday: From Meme to Slang 从热梗到流行语

On TikTok and across the internet, people are using the Jet2holiday audio to describe all kinds of chaotic (混乱的) or funny situations, not just vacations. 

For example:

a messy kitchen 混乱的厨房

a disastrous party 糟糕的派对

a bad haircut video 剪坏了的发型

Any chaotic or funny situations can be captioned (配上......的文案) with “Jet2holiday”. 久而久之，“A Jet2holiday moment”甚至成了一种形容词用法，用来形容一些廉价的、质量差的（low-quality） 东西或混乱的经历。

换句话说，Jet2holiday已经成了这种糟糕旅行体验的代名词（a shorthand for these travel disasters），但它始终是以一种讽刺性的（sarcastic）方式在使用。

Jet2holiday做形容词的时候还可以加上vibe（氛围）这个词。
