  • Episode 77: Clinical Conversations: The Obesity Paradox

Leading cardiovascular researcher, D.r Carl "Chip" Lavie, has made many contributions to understanding and improving cardiovascular health including identifying the obesity paradox. However, people with obesity have statistically better outcomes than normal weight individuals with cardiovascular disease. This is referred to as the obesity paradox. In this podcast, OMA Executive Director of Clinical Education Dr. Nicholas Pennings interviews Dr. Lavie discussing the obesity paradox and the many variables that influence the obesity paradox including the severity of obesity, body fat distribution, and the role of physical activity on cardiovascular outcomes in patients with obesity.
