Painful experiences and traumas should not be seen and treated as a competition between two individuals. At an emotional level, no one suffered more than the other. Everybody is equal in their pain and we should use the experience to, in fact, connect and inspire. What other use could possibly be given to pain if not making it the incentive to purpose?

Matthew talks about his personal trauma and how he used it as a way to support others and normalize other people’s fears. He also explains that trauma in a sense doesn’t understand context, which makes everyone’s suffering just the same.
