Welcome to episode forty-four of the Low Tide Boyz - A Swimrun Podcast!

Like some of the most popular superheroes with alliterative names, this week’s guest definitely fits in. We’re not talking about Matt Murdock, Clark Kent, Bruce Banner, or Peter Parker. This week we have the one and only, Oscar Olsson on the show. While he needs no introduction, we should do one anyway. He’s widely regarded as one of the best Swimrunners in the world and is a great ambassador for the sport.

There were no races again this week because of increased COVID restrictions. 

In happier news, we are super stoked to announce that this segment is now being powered by Raceid.com. They recently rebranded from race.se to raceid.com in late October and we’re looking forward to beefing up our “reporting” with their help.

Interview

Now for this week’s interview. Oscar Olsson is one of the most well-known Swimrunners in the world and has the personality to match. His enthusiasm for Swimrun and the community is infectious and we had a great time chatting with him about his Swimrun journey.

In this interview, we chatted about his athletic background and how he found Swimrun and fell in love with the sport. We also chatted about his preparation for races including the ÖTILLÖ World Championship and races of the first impression. We talked about the mental side of training and how he’s been handing the curveball that COVID has thrown to the world. He shared his experiences racing Catalina and how he just popped in and raced the World Championship at the last minute one year.

Oscar runs his own gym and coaching business, o2Tri in Gothenburg Sweden. He’s also super accessible on Instagram to answer questions from Swimrunners.
