Greek conceptual artists, Caroline Rovithi, joins Tom and Nick for our season two finale, and 50th episode of the podcast! Famed for creating colour-splashed, graphic pop art-inspired pieces with Greece as her main source of inspiration, Caroline inspires the boys with her story and her way incredibly optimistic way of looking at the world – and that’s before we even get to her art! Using traditional Greek symbols in her work, including images such as the Tsarouchia worn by the Presidential Guard, the Greek flag and many others, Caroline’s art is as unique as it is inspiring and patriotic. Caroline is a world-class artist whose works were even most recently displayed in New York as part of her exhibition; ‘Greece in New York’ in Manhattan between June and September of 2023.

Legendary Historian, Professor Paul Cartledge, joins Ouzo Talk for a personal lecture on the Ancient Greeks. When it comes to experts, few come close to the A.G. Leventis Senior Research Fellow of Clare College, Cambridge, and A.G. Leventis Professor of Greek Culture in the Faculty of Classics. Add in countless documentaries, books, lectures and more to his name, and there’s no doubt that there’s much you can learn from this now honorary Spartan Citizen. One thing’s certain when it comes to Paul: 2500 years from now, the world will still be learning about the Ancient Greeks through reading sources like Herodotus, Thucidides and Plutarch… but they’ll also be reading Paul Cartledge. If you’re an ancient history buff, or want to know why Ancient Greece still matters, this is the podcast for you.

What do the Minoans, Hagia Sophia, the Pontians, ‘Baboula’, the Ottomans and the croissant all have in common? Not much on face value, but they all unwittingly play a role in a millennia-long journey that leads directly to the event we know as the Greek Genocide. Dr Panayiotis Diamadis has been the Vice-President of the Australian Institute for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, and holds a Research Doctorate in Genocide Studies, where his thesis was titled "Hellenism under the Crescent: a case study in an ongoing genocide.” Panayioti takes the boys on an incredible journey through the ages that doesn’t quite go the way you might expect. From genocide denial, through to the effects on our modern Greek communities of the Diaspora, this is an episode you don’t want to miss!

Photographer, Effy Alexakis, and historian, Leonard Janiszewski, have in many ways become the dynamic duo of documenting the experience of the Greek diaspora both in Australia and abroad. With Effy's camera capturing moments and Leonard providing the historical context, the pair have managed to create a body of work worthy of being recognised as culturally significant. Their work includes exhibitions, books, public talks and more. The pair sit down with Tom and Nick to discuss everything from the earliest Greek migration to Australia, the gold rushes, the Milk Bars and Cafes that came to characterise the Greek experience in Australia and documenting the ghost villages and houses left behind in Greece as a result of migration.
