World Champion boxer, George ‘Ferocious’ Kambosos drops by The Distillery to talk to Tom and Nick as he prepares to mount a fresh assault on the boxing world to reclaim the lightweight World Championship. By his own admission, Kambosos has been quiet since losing his five belts to Devin Haney. But don’t let the silence fool you. The proud Greek-Australian boxer has been lurking in the shadows, plotting and preparing for a return – and if his training videos on social media are anything to go by… beware the ‘Second Coming’. Kambosos dives deep into his Greek heritage and his connection to his Spartan roots, while also recounting in tiny detail, his now legendary fight with Teofimo Lopez, where he was crowned World Champion. From the build-up and the bad blood, to the victory, and the fallout, this is a story that’s now etched in the hearts and minds of the Greek diaspora, which has fast-become folklore. But it’s only the first part of the Kambosos story. The best is yet to come. Tune in to the episode to hear why.

What makes the perfect gyro? Do you have mustard, mayo, or ‘saltsa’ on yours, or is that all sacrilege? One thing’s for sure, everyone’s an expert when it comes to Greece’s most recognisable street food… but not like Kelly Roditis – AKA The Gyros Queen. What started as a simple joke by the Greek-born Roditis on Instagram after literally overdosing on gyro in Athens, has transformed into real advocacy for Greek cuisine. Kelly stops by Ouzo Talk bearing gifts for Tom and Nick, as they cover all the spiciest, savoury issues in the world of gyro, Greek street food, and social media. Join Kelly and the boys as they take on all these topics on more in a discussion that doesn’t quite go the way you might think!

He has identified and named more areas of the brain than anyone in history. His book; ‘The Rat Brain in Stereotaxic Coordinates’ is the most cited in neuroscience, and the third most cited science book of all time. Now, famed Neuroscientist and Greek, George Paxinos, joins Tom and Nick in the Distillery for a discussion that doesn’t quite go the way you might expect. While science and the brain may dominate proceedings, the Order of Australia recipient and author also covers the future of contact sports, climate change, misinformation and much, much more in a discussion that crosses the line from science into philosophy. George studied at Berkeley, McGill and Yale and is Professor of Medical Sciences at Neuroscience Research Australia (NEURA) and The University of New South Wales, Sydney.

Former NATO chief, Admiral James Stavridis, joins Tom and Nick for an important discussion about the current state of the world, including tensions between Greece and Turkey (Turkyie), Russia and Ukraine, as well as the USA and China,. Having led the NATO Alliance with responsibility for Afghanistan, Libya, the Balkans, Syria, counter piracy, and cyber security, capping off a 37 year military career in the US Navy, Stavridis is far more than just an expert. He was vetted for Vice President by Hillary Clinton as part of her 2016 Presidential campaign, but was also offered a cabinet position in the Trump Administration in a sign of the high esteem he is held in on both sides of US politics. He's a Bloomberg opinion columnist, a contributing editor for TIME Magazine, and Chief International Security Analyst for NBC News. A survivor of the 9/11 attack on The Pentagon, this descendant of refugees from Smyrna has seen plenty during his time, and has made a real-world impact on international relations and has published many books, including his latest: To Risk It All – Nine Conflicts and the Crucible of Decision. A must-listen for all Greeks of the diaspora.

They asked for permission. Permission was denied... but they did it anyway. That’s the predicament that Founder and Executive Director of the Institute for Digital Archaeology, Roger Michel, and Director of Technology, Alexy Karenowska found themselves in during 2022. Believing strongly that the British Museum didn’t have the right to deny their request to scan the Parthenon Marbles, both Roger and Alexy hatched a plan to scan the Marbles anyway, using only smartphones and iPads, and in full view of Museum staff. Not only did they manage to do it, the resulting copy of the Selene Horse in Pentelic Marble is an incredible example of what can be done by digital archaeologists, and the challenges it poses to traditional museums, committed to maintaining their collections. Roger and Alexy join Tom and Nick to re-tell the story, and discuss the 200+ year dispute between the UK and Greece, including the loud calls for the restitution of the Marbles to Athens.
