Adam Carolla recounts struggling with construction jobs before finding his passion teaching boxing. Though lacking credentials, he offered carpentry skills to a gym owner to gain opportunities coaching. Carolla soon taught classes while still woodworking, incrementally gaining experience. Hearing a radio call for boxing trainers, he tenaciously found the studio and had a chance encounter with show talent Jimmy "The Sports Guy" Kimmel. Seizing the opportunity, Carolla trained Kimmel for an on-air match, launching a friendship and entertainment career. He emphasizes making your own chances through hustle and goodwill, building unlikely roads simply by asking.
