The only reason anyone struggles with food and dieting, is because of desire.
Desire is tired to our survival, so it's very powerful.
But the way that we try to control ourselves around food , can actually really increase that desire.
Because the way that we try to control ourselves, is we struggle against it. Instead of lowering that desire to eat whatever we want.
The minute you say - "you can't eat that"- your desire goes right up.
So if you push and force against yourself to not have it and that increases your desire for it, you have really just increased the struggle.
That's what we do, we try to diet which increases our desire for all the food.
When WE need to do the opposite, decrease our desire for it.
Lets look at deprivation, deprivation increases our desire,
But think about it like this:
Deprivation is never there if you have no desire for it.
If I say- "you can't have broccoli or something you really don't like"- you wont feel deprived.
But If I say you can never have your favourite food again, you're going to feel really deprived. WHY?
That's because your desire is so high.
So this is what we do— deprivation only exist when desire is there.
The answer is not to solve for deprivation for forcing and will powering your way through some unsustainable diet, but to solve for the excess desire!
