  • The Healing Journey: Awakening To The Invitation To Heal

The first step in healing is to awaken to the fact that we need to heal. We often go through life ignoring our pain, medicating it, and coping with it.

When we awaken to the fact that we have deep pain and wounds that need to heal and see that we are worthy of healing, everything begins to change.

In this first episode of The Healing Journey series, we look at the first stage of the healing journey, which is awakening to our need to heal, that we are worthy of healing, and that we have the power to heal.

In this episode, we take a look at the following:

    • That there are no "rules" on how we heal
    • The importance of self-compassion
    • The 5 A's of the healing journey
    • Awakening our desire to heal
    • See that we are worthy of healing
    • Why do we sometimes get stuck on the journey
    • Things that help awaken us to our need to heal

I hope that this episode serves you in your awakening process to see how worthy you are of a beautiful life.

  • Learning To Feel Safe In The Present Moment

Do you feel like you are missing out on your life because the present moment doesn't feel safe? Are you constantly distracting yourself from the present moment as a coping mechanism?

Life is happening now, but to be present and enjoy our lives we have to feel safe in the present moment.

For decades I felt like I missed out on my life. The present moment didn't feel safe, so I learned to detach and disassociate from the present moment as a coping mechanism.

Part of my healing journey has been learning how to make the present moment feel like a safe place to be.

In this episode, we discuss the following:

    • How life and traumatic events trained us to feel like the present moment isn't safe.
    • How can we learn to feel safe by starting to heal the sources of trauma in our lives.
    • How the practice of self-compassion can help us to become our own safe space.
    • How the practice of meditation can assist us in feeling safe in the moment.
    • How the practice of mindfulness can help train us to feel like the present moment is safe.

You are worthy of doing the work to learn to be present and stop missing out on the beautiful moments of your life.

  • Why Self-Love Isn't Selfish

Self-Love isn't selfish. We have heard that phrase for a long time. It has almost become a mantra in the self-help and self-love community. However, for many of us, we still feel guilty and/or selfish when we practice self-love.

So how do we address what is behind the feelings of guilt and selfishness in living out a life where we fully love and accept ourselves?

In this episode, we take a look at the following:

    1. The origins of why we feel guilty about self-love
    2. The reasons why self-love isn't selfish
    3. How to let go of the feelings of guilt and selfishness around self-love.

Love isn't a finite resource, and it actually multiplies in the presence of love. As we love ourselves, we also have more love to give to others. So let's do ourselves and others a favor and learn to love ourselves without guilt.

  • How Trauma Trained Us To Lie

If you are a trauma survivor who has struggled with telling the truth, you might be surprised to learn that this can be a  common struggle for trauma survivors.

For many of us who experienced trauma, lying became a part of our daily lives. We used lying as a way to stay safe, protect others, and avoid shame. Just because we have gotten older doesn't mean those survival mechanisms automatically go away. As long as we see telling the truth as dangerous, we will continue to fall back into patterns of lying.

In this episode, we explore the following:

    • How did trauma train us to lie?.
    • How do we let go of the shame of "survival lying?"
    • How do we develop a healthy relationship with telling the truth?
      • Telling the truth to ourselves.
      • Identifying what triggers us to lie.
      • Building a safe relationship with telling the truth.
      • Holding ourselves accountable when we lie.

We can heal our relationship with telling the truth and live a life that is alignmed with who we truly are.
