Newly married, 28 years old, and diagnosed with a “uniformly fatal” form of leukemia, Glenn Sabin, did an experiment on himself when given six months to live.  That was over 30 years ago!  Although randomized, controlled clinical trials with a large N number (the number of participants) is the gold standard of evidence-based medicine, individual outcomes are all that really matter.
