Being liked by everyone might feel nice & living life based on other people's opinions might be easy, but it's not worth your autonomy & being an extension of someone else for the sake of making life easier. I have 7 ways to stop living your life based on other people's opinions that will help you change this mindset.
Show Notes:
Being liked by everyone used to be a necessity to me. I HAD to be liked by everyone or I felt like a failure & that my existence on Earth didn’t matter. Dramatic, I know. But it’s how I felt because pleasing others was so deeply ingrained in me & being accepted by others was what made me feel safe. I needed a place to feel safe since I didn’t at home, so school, church, activities with others had to be the place for me.
The problem with being obsessed with other people liking you is that you make that need more important than anything else. And what those people say & how they feel about what you decide to do or don’t do become truths for you. This is because you have gotten so used to them liking you that the possibility of them not liking you anymore due to you doing something opposite of their advice is scary & crippling to your own thoughts & opinions.
We all want to be liked & accepted. But some of us take it too far. I certainly did. And I missed out on really being me for the longest time because of it. And I realize that fitting in & being a part of something can garner more respect from others & even make life easier at times, but it’s really creating more problems than it’s solving. You’re living your life based on conditions set by others, not actual acceptance. And I understand that many of us developed this behavior because at one time in our lives affection, care & acceptance WAS conditional & we learned how to play the game. But I’m here to tell you (& myself) that we no longer need to do this.
We are going to create a new mindset today that echoes the truths of not needing to fit in to be successful, to be respected or even to live a good life. You can make your own decisions & like who you are & still have all those things. It’s actually liberating.
Today I’m going to share with you 7 Ways to Stop Letting Other People’s Opinions Control You:

How we display anger can bring on regret & embarrassment, but moving through those emotions full force can be overwhelming & exhausting, too. Understanding how to manage our anger & not let it control us in those chaotic moments can help us better understand what is triggering the anger & how we can use that knowledge to come to a solution. I have 10 tips to share on how to manage anger.
Show Notes:
Anger for me can come on easily. I had to work really hard to not allow myself to be so angry at everything in life & I’m still working on it. When I was younger any anger I had would stay bottled up because there was no safe place to let it out. And anger was seen more as an emotional breakdown with lots of tears & frustration. But when I became an adult, I felt like I had this right to display my anger more forthright.
My anger generally comes out in yelling & screaming & wanting to throw something. I haven’t broken anything, but I will just generally toss something across the room & huff and puff a bit. It was the yelling part that I really had to work on.
And it can be true that when we are going through an episode of anger, all we see is red. This is where knowing your anger triggers comes into play. We have spoken about anxiety triggers recently & will soon talk about depression triggers, but even anger has triggers.
We all display anger in different ways. Some are more violent ways & others are more emotional and others still are somewhere in the middle. Having de-escalation tactics in your back pocket will help you come down from an anger episode quicker than without, but understanding where your anger comes from will help you be aware of what triggers your anger and you’ll be able to avoid some of those episodes.
But if you struggle with anger, I want you to start thinking about how most anger is linked to fear because they both live in a place of needing control. You become angry because you are afraid of an outcome or a consequence, something that is out of your control. Even something as simple as being angry that the barista made your coffee wrong. This could be your fear of not having a good day because it started off rough, fear of being misunderstood because they made your coffee wrong.
Today I want to share with you 10 ways to handle your anger in the moment:

We can all be leaders in life. You don't even have to have a job to be a leader or be louder than everyone else. Many people lead by example without saying anything. And I want to give you 7 tips on how to be the BEST leader you can.
Show Notes:
I believe everyone can be a leader in their lives. I truly believe this. You don’t have to have a management-level job or be someone super important to an organization or even own a business to be a leader. I believe we are all role models in life. I know a lot of people disagree with me on this & don’t accept it, which is fine. But it is true because someone is always watching you. And yes, we are all our own person & make our own decisions of who to look up to & emulate and that is our responsibility. But I think it’s a nice way to remind yourself to be kind & want to set a good example for others that look up to you, which can feel good.
Being a great leader is more than just having the capacity to tell people what to do, be confident constantly & make all the decisions. Being a great leader means you value things differently, your level of respect is considerate & knowing that everything you do isn’t all about you.
I wanted to include both being a leader at work & at home because we can be one at both at the same time. Or maybe you don’t work & you manage the home, I want you to know that is just as important. And just in case this is an issue for some people, I know that it is biblical that men are traditionally the head of the household, which is something I believe, too. And whether you believe that or not, or even if your spouse is the main money maker in the household, this doesn’t mean you can’t still be a leader. You & your spouse can be leaders together. It’s not a contest. A lot of the strongest relationships are made up of those that work together in unison.
So when I go through my tips on how to become a great leader, these tips can be applied to both your work life & your home life. And I will dive into how that applies both ways when we go through the tips.
And just know, if you feel like you lack confidence, that doesn’t mean you can’t be a leader. I totally lack confidence a lot of the time, but not all leaders are loud. Lots of people can lead by example & they don’t even need to say anything. So don’t count yourself out so soon.
Here are 7 tips to become a great leader, both at work & home:

Mental strength can be described as your amount of resilience & confidence. But if you're unsure how to become stronger mentally, I have 10 tips on how to work towards a stronger mind & become even more capable of overcoming the struggles that come your way.
Show Notes:
I always thought mental strength was tough to work on, but it was because I was a people pleaser. And being a people pleaser meant I had to do what I could to put everyone else first & not make myself a priority ever. This meant that I allowed my mindset to be continually crushed by those I thought I needed to serve to be accepted, to be liked, to be recognized. I had to extract myself from that lifestyle, that behavior before I even had a chance to become stronger. You don’t get stronger when you allow others to basically step on you & hold you down.
And as most of you know, all I talk about around here is emotions and mindset and how to ensure you are not held captive by your emotions & how better to manage those emotions that will assist you in getting your desired outcomes in life & continue on your journey to becoming your best self. And it’s what many of you are here for, which is great because I can deliver on that.
And talking about different topics individually can help you understand those topics better, but sometimes it’s nice to have a quick list of things to work on to either get a jumpstart on your emotional wellness work or just to have a condensed reminder of what’s important to work on, in general.
And that is what I plan to provide for you today. A quick list of things for you to do to work on your mental strength. But first, let’s define what mental strength is: Being mentally strong means you are able to deal with the stressors, challenges & problems that come your way. This also means you have the ability to cope with any negative emotions that come with those struggles & respond the best way you can, despite the circumstances.
Sometimes referred to as mental toughness, it can also be boiled down to the amount of resilience & confidence you have to figure whatever out & keep moving forward. As always, please note that becoming stronger mentally is not an overnight project. It doesn’t happen right away & takes time, like most things. Please be patient with yourself as you develop this skill.
Today I want to share with you 10 Ways to Work On Becoming Stronger Mentally:

Knowing your anxiety triggers can keep you vigilant in your awareness of anxiety attacks & hopefully minimize how much anxiety you experience by being knowing what contributes to those feelings. I'm sharing 10 Common Anxiety Triggers many of us struggle with.
Show Notes:
Anxiety sucks. It’s a terrible thing that creeps up on you & takes you in a chokehold. When I experience anxiety, it’s almost as someone else has taken over my mind & body & is holding me captive. Anxiety sucks.
We talk a lot about triggers here & how it’s important to be aware of your own personal triggers that wake & exacerbate feelings, emotions & reactions in us due to so many different experiences. And if you’re unaware of what a trigger is, here’s a quick definition: a trigger is a type of stressor that leads to an adverse emotional reaction from a remembered experience or being reexposed to a negative experience or something similar. This could be seeing someone that has hurt you, being back in a place where something terrible has happened or seeing something that reminds you of a bad memory.
And as important as it is to be aware of as many triggers as possible, which will help you shift your mindset out of fear when confronted with those things, it can be more helpful to focus on triggers for something many of us struggle with to draw more awareness on what to watch out for. Knowing some common anxiety triggers can keep us vigilant & hopefully minimize how much anxiety we experience by being aware of what contributes to those feelings.
That's why I wanted to share with you 10 Common Triggers for Anxiety. Awareness is key with mindset struggles & the first step to take when wanting to make change and overcome is to no longer let these things hold you captive. None of these things are the typical sleep, diet, alcohol, watching the news. But just know, sometimes you won’t always be able to be aware of when a trigger comes on because it can happen suddenly. That is when you need to use your skills of responding rather than reacting, which I will talk about next episode.

I’ve discovered over the last few years that it’s pretty easy to become burnt out in your personal life just as easily as in your professional work life. I want to share tips on how we can overcome burnout in our personal lives & not continually feel hopeless & detached from life.
Show Notes:
Personal burnout is very much like professional burnout where you end up feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained & like you aren’t able to do everything that your life demands. It’s excessive mental, emotional & physical stress that drives you to your end. And feelings of being empty, devoid of motivation & no longer caring about what you used to care about is concerning & should be spoken about more. I heard it best said that burnout is a slow depletion of mental & physical resources. And to quickly understand the difference between burnout & stress is feeling burnt out leaves you feeling empty & hopeless vs stress feeling mostly overwhelming & too much.
Burnout has happened to me a lot with certain friends in my life because the relationship was very one-sided & too much emotionally for me to handle or contribute to because of my own emotional issues. But despite knowing I was reaching my end, I kept it going & it would cause major burnout for me that I would just tap out completely for a while.
But your instances of burnout could be different. It could have to do with demands that others are putting on you, like with friends or family, volunteer obligations. You could be dealing with detachment & not interested in anything you were interested in before because of burnout & it all feeling the same. Whatever is causing you excessive & prolonged stress & feelings of being overwhelmed, in addition to feeling helpless, it is possible you’re experiencing burnout.
Ask yourself these questions to determine if you’re struggling with burnout:
Other things causing your burnout are not knowing when you tell people ‘no’ when it’s too much, being around too many toxic people, neglecting to prioritize yourself instead of others, believing you can literally do every single thing & lacking the control you want over everything.
Today I am going to share 5 tips on how you can overcome burnout in your personal life. These tips could bleed over to professional burnout if that’s more of what you’re dealing with right now, too.
Thank you again for listening & I hope this episode was helpful.

It's too easy to stay stuck in our comfort zones because we don't realize how much we are settling & leaving amazing opportunities on the table. I'm here to share with you how to progress from comfort zone to growth zone & start fully living your life with more joy.
Show Notes:
Despite how many times I have stepped outside of my comfort zone, it can still be scary to do it again & again & again. The challenges are new, the obstacles are new, the fears are new.
But we know it’s important to keep doing it, right? We know that if we continue to sit in our little zones of comfort & do nothing new, we will accomplish nothing new.
Let’s chat about some benefits of stepping outside of your comfort zone before we dive into how to step outside of it.
Hopefully, some of those benefits resonate with you & get you more excited about creeping out of that comfort zone. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy, but it is worth it.
Today I want to share with you How to Step Outside of Your Comfort Zone. The steps you need to take are based on a very common Venn diagram that displays the 4 zones many of us are in & the path to go from comfort zone to growth zone. We’ll go through each zone so you can discover the way out. But please recognize that everyone will move through these zones at different speeds with different difficulties. Please don’t compare your journey to others.

Leaning into as much kindness as we can is so beneficial for ourselves & for others, but we can't allow people to manipulate us into believing we need to do more or take on more because we choose kindness over nastiness. I have 5 ways we can set boundaries while still being as kind as possible.
Show Notes:
The phrase, ‘Kill’em With Kindness’ is one of my favorite phrases because it embodies the idea that we need to attack people with kindness to help them shake off any negativity or expectations that all people are against them. It also demonstrates a strength that you can manage your emotions enough to not let those dictate what you do & how you act. You can honor your emotions while still leaning into kindness because it fosters happiness for you (and gratitude) & others around you.
However, I have had my fair share of people thinking that because I am a super kind & nice person that it’s pretty easy to take advantage of me. And I would say that this is true when I am knee-deep in being a people pleaser, but as I have loosened my grip on that behavior, I have become more aware of people thinking kind people are doormats.
And it’s tough, especially with what the world has gone through in the last 2 years, that we all wouldn’t want to lean more into kindness with everyone’s struggles increasing a little more. I find myself very surprised when people choose to be nasty over being kind. And I know, we all have bad days & no one is perfect, but if we practice being more kind on a regular basis, even through our toughest of times, it will become an easy habit.
But I’m not here to convince you why it’s important to be kind. I’m here to encourage you to be kind as much as you can while still implementing boundaries to prevent being taken advantage of & feeling hopeless in your endeavor to lean into positivity.
I’m going to share with you 5 different ways to implement boundaries while being kind because being nice & kind doesn’t mean you get to be treated like dirt:

You cannot have a healthy relationship without trust. And a lot of times we get into new relationships, both friendships & romantic ones, & reflect on times when our trust was broken & carry that baggage into the next relationship. This is why I wanted to chat about building trust for the first time & also add in some tips if you need to rebuild trust after someone has broken it.
Show Notes:
And I just want to make sure we all understand that it’s ok to make people earn your trust. There is no reason why someone should automatically be trusted from the jump. And this doesn’t mean you can’t be nice to someone just because trust hasn’t been established yet. But just take your time with relying on them, them keeping their word & believing they are who they seem until trust is demonstrated & it feels right. (and even then we can be wrong, that’s just life)
But as many of you know, you cannot have a healthy relationship without trust. And a lot of times when we get into new relationships, again both friendships & romantic ones, we reflect back on times when our trust was broken & carry that baggage into the next relationship. We all know this doesn’t help anyone. So I thought it would be helpful to chat about building trust for the first time & also add in some tips if you need to rebuild trust after someone has broken it. Because forgiveness is also very important & second chances can be good if the circumstances agree.
Really quick, before we dive into the tips, let's make sure we know why having trust in relationships is important:
Here are 7 ways to build trust in relationships & also work on rebuilding trust when it’s been broken:

Some people don't want you to heal because broken people serve their needs better because you can manipulate them easier. They also don't want you to become strong enough to be better than them or find pleasure in seeing you in pain because it makes them seem stronger. I have 5 tips on how to not let these things hinder our emotional healing & self-development.
Show Notes:
There will be some people that try to convince you to constantly try new ways of healing yourself all the time because they know if you don’t stick to something long enough, you won’t end up healing.
Or there will be others that will convince you you’re fine & don’t need help. They will say that therapy is a waste & won’t do anything for you & maybe suggest that you just ‘hang in there a little longer because that will somehow fix everything. They view you in a different lens because it caters to them better to have you broken than healthy. Broken people serve other people’s needs better because you can manipulate them easier.
When you’re not strong enough, you can be led into toxic relationships & convinced you need to work harder at terrible jobs, and abused because it’s explained as something normal, then tossed away because you’re told you deserve it.
But I know we can all become strong enough to see this abusive & selfish behavior for what it is & break free from it. We can understand that these people that don’t want us to heal are only preventing us from doing so because it makes their lives easier.
Another reason not everyone wants you to heal is because you’re easier to step on & over when you’re in pain & needing help. It’s easier to take advantage of you & your situation for their gain.
But what we need to realize is that our healing only has to do with us. We need to not let others get in our way of healing either. Healing is a journey about ourselves & what changes we want & need to make. It’s mostly a solo project that has helpful visitors.
And healing can be seen in so many different ways & different amounts. Your healing from the same thing as someone else could take less time or more time. But how long it takes or how hard it is or whether it’s the same as someone else you know doesn’t matter. Comparing your healing to someone else will only keep you down & maybe cause you to give up. And if you give up, you’ll never know how much better you could be if you kept going.
It isn’t your concern whether or not someone doesn’t want you to heal or celebrate the progress you’re currently making. You need to keep your focus on yourself & do the work that needs to be done to become your best self.
I want to share with you 5 tips on how to stay focused on yourself when you’re working on your self-development & not get distracted by what other people are saying or trying to convince you to do:
