  • EPISODE 16: THE LONELIEST PODCAST
This is definitely a first for Redwood PowerShow!  This week in particular episode 16 features no guest at all!  My wife, Hope the Hammer was out of town for the week and it turns out her absence threw me off my groove much more than expected.  I fell short on my ability to book a guest for the week.  Regardless, the show must go on.  I cover RPH news by detailing the story it took for me to get a 200 lb kettlebell for the gym.  Strength world news covers speculation on the soon to be released footage of Grant High at Super Training.  To wrap it up we cover recent news in Humboldt County including reports about the Fourth of July celebrations.  It is just me on this episode so it wound up being the shortest episode thus far, regardless I trust you will find it entertaining.  Kick back, relax and enjoy Redwood PowerShow.

  • Episode 15: Kortney Olson
Episode 15 features none other than Kortney Olson!  If you don't know who Kortney is, look her up! She has an amazing story and has gone from being addicted to methamphetamine to becoming the CEO of a multi-million dollar international company called GRRRL clothing.  When I reached out to her I was flabbergasted when she agreed to be on the podcast.  This woman should be interviewed buy the likes of Oprah but it just goes to show her fantastic character when she is willing to sit down and have a conversation with me at RPH.  Kortney is working diligently to create a platform that will help liberate women into realizing their true potential and she is turning the strength world on it's head.  I am very proud to have this GRRRL be a guest on the podcast. Sit back relax and enjoy Redwood PowerShow.

  • Episode 14: Oliver Ruggles
Oliver Ruggles joins us on episode 14 as our third returning guest. In case you forgot, he is commonly accepted as having the second biggest biceps out of all our guests on the show. That’s right behind Curtis Hodge of course. Oliver and I both started conjugate at roughly the same time and we take a moment to reflect on how the program is working for us as well as our appreciation for Nate Harvey. We both work together on the ambulance and during our last 24 hour shift we managed to cruise around the Humboldt County area in search of possible locations for RPH 2.0. We also give our opinion on the new gym developments in Mckinleyville. Oliver is becoming a good friend of mine as he always provides some genuine laughs. In order to hear for yourself, you need to tune in and listen to the show. Sit back, relax and enjoy, Redwood PowerShow.

  • Episode 13: Erik von Werlhof
Episode 13 was recorded on Father's day so I found it only natural that my pops, Erik von Werlhof be our guest.  Makani Aiu was unfortunately unable to fulfill his roll as co-host this week, so my lovely wife stepped in as a result.  We got to sit down with my dad and delve into his love and obsession and history with road bicycles.  He also doesn't hesitate to offer some much warranted fatherly advice.  One of my favorite aspects of recording this episode is typically my dad is a man of very little words and I feel like he really opened up.  If you are interested in what he has to say you need to tune in for the next hour.  Sit back, relax and enjoy Redwood PowerShow.

  • Episode 12: Art Avilla
Art Avilla joins us for episode 12 of Redwood PowerShow. He was originally recruited to the gym by the beloved Makani Aiu. One thing that immediately stood out to me about Art was even though he has never really been serious about weight training, he was immediately down to try anything and eager to learn. He has now arguably become one of Redwood PowerHouse's most reliable members. Art has a strong soccer background and he talks to us about his history with the sport. We also cover other topics including the IPF worlds going on in Calgary Canada, Makani’s recent obsession with the vertical diet, and the recent minor additions to RPH. Sit back relax and enjoy Redwood PowerShow.

  • Episode 11: Kaden O'keefe
Makani and I take Redwood PowerShow on the road as we travel down to LA. We are fortunate enough to have our good friend Kaden O’Keefe join us for episode 11. Kaden has a very strong background as a competitive swimmer and has never really put much of an emphasis on strength training. I was excited as all heck when we realized he lives a mere 20 minutes from Barbell Brigade, arguably the best powerlifting gym in the LA area. We got him in there and took him through an upper body workout to see what he thought and he wound up having a great time. In order to hear more about his background, what he thinks of strength sports and how he feels strength athletes can become more well-rounded you need to listen to the show. Kick back, relax and enjoy Redwood PowerShow.

  • Episode 10: Curtis Hodge
I first met Curtis when I was standing in line behind him at a local diner. I immediately noticed that one, he has a huge neck and two, he was wearing a Training Hall t-shirt, so I felt the need to strike up a conversation and I’m glad I did. Up until now we have had very little interactions, so I was excited to learn about the man as much as I did while recording this podcast. Turns out he is an accomplished track and field athlete specializing in the hammer throw and has gone on to coach athletes of his own. He has also trained alongside some of the nation’s best in the sport of strong man and is particularly fond of training his grip. Curtis is somebody I look forward to having the opportunity to train with in the future because if you want to get strong, you need to surround yourself with strong people. Sit back relax and enjoy, Redwood PowerShow.

  • Episode 9: Brandon Amis
Before recording Brandon came to the garage and we had a relatively low energy workout. It was just one of those days where nobody seemed to be feeling it. Regardless we still got the work done, after which Brandon sits down and joins us for episode 9: We briefly discuss his recent introduction into the world of Powerlifting and the, dare I say it, rapid progress that he has made. Afterwords we get into the meat and potatoes of the episode which is debating between Elite FTS and Rogue fitness in regards to which company is better for powerlifting. Brandon argues for Rogue and Evan argues for Elite FTS, in order to form your own opinion, you need to listen to the debate itself. As usual we also cover news of the strength world and news of Humboldt County. Kick back relax and enjoy Redwood PowerShow.

  • Episode 8: Hope von Werlhof
Alright Redwood PowerHoes!  We have some very important announcements, for starters Makani Aiu is officially named co-host of Redwood PowerShow and this is his first episode with the new title.  Second, Hope is gracious enough to return as our guest with some important announcements if her own.  You will have to stay tuned in order to find out.  The show is filled with some good laughs as I can honestly say that these are two of the most reliable people in my life and irony lies in the fact that they have a bitter rivalry.  Other notable aspects of the episode are Makani and I express our take on the Kern US Open and the fact that a 900 lb squat is becoming less and less of a phenomenon, along with Hope discussing the progress she has been making with her circuit training.  Kick back relax and enjoy Redwood PowerShow.

  • Episode 7: Ricky and Annie
Episode seven is actually the first time I've ever had two guests on the show at once! Ricky Aqui and Annie Fehrenbach are both good pals of mine who I first met during my year of rugby at HSU. I quickly learned that they were the people to look too for guidance on the field due to their wealth of knowledge about the sport. Since then, Ricky has stopped playing but he continues to stay active through his job and going on frequent hikes. Annie is still very much involved in the sport and is going to the nationals with her team in June. Please join us for an hour as we get to learn more about these fantastic folk. Kick back and enjoy Redwood PowerShow.
