Overthinking contributes to anxiety, depression, and irritability. It can lead to sleep problems, increase your unhealthy stress levels & weaken your immunity. But you don’t need me to tell you this because you KNOW it sucks. You don’t need another tirade of STOP DOING THESE THINGS THAT ARE BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH! and another cause to feel shitty because you don’t feel like you can overcome it. What you need is a roadmap out of that place and I’m going to give you that today with 4 actionable strategies and 2 takeaway exercises.

Those barriers are what we discuss in this episode: attachment styles, safety in relationships, self-awareness about our needs, wants & behaviors, the impact of developmental trauma and childhood dynamics and much more.
Guest expert is Dr Margaret Robinson Rutherford, a clinical psychologist in private practice with more than twenty-five years of experience treating individuals and couples for depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. In 2014 I met a man who I thought was my soulmate & future husband. He was, in fact, the man who would deliberately bring me so much emotional & psychological pain. And yet, he would also act as the catalyst for my own growth & spiritual awakening. In this episode I share my starting over story & 5 key lessons I learnt that will help you all as well in growing through what you go through.
Those life-changing lessons I discuss, with examples from my own story, are:
#1 Always find a healthy release for heavy emotions
#2 Resist closing your heart and stay open to love
#3 Your intuition is your superpower
#4 Take personal responsibility to heal & grow
#5 Detach from your thoughts to find inner peace

Clinical psychologist and healing retreat organizer Mary Firestone lived through the Montecito mudslide in 2018 that dropped 200 million gallons of rainfall in 15 minutes, washing away her home. Trapped alone in her bathroom while pregnant, not sure if her husband and four-year-old son were still alive, she wasn’t thinking that her trauma was a gift in disguise. Yet, as she began her journey to healing, this is exactly what she discovered. It is the message she shares here with us here too: the idea that your trauma, in whatever form it slayed you, can become an initiation into a fuller, more illuminated, and more joyful life.
We discuss Mary’s starting over story as well as different healing modalities that you can use, from EMDR, to psychedelic therapy, to aromatherapy and more, to free your mind, body and soul from the past.
