There are 8 risk factors for OASI, which occurs when there is a tear into the anal sphincter muscle and mucosa. These 8 risk factors are:
1. Perineum Length (going into labor)
2. Racial Background
3. Fetal Size
4. Family History
5. Epidural Analgesia
6. Forceps Delivery
7. Stage 2 Duration
8. Episiotomy Type
