Ryan Bailey PT 1: Hollywood Hustle, RHONY, RHONJ, Vanderpump Rules, The Valley. Podcasting, Jeff Lewis Extended and Hollywood Icons.

This week we sit down with Ryan Bailey, the charismatic host of the popular podcast So Bad It’s Good and fellow Jeff Lewis Chump Co-host. It kicks off with Ryan expressing his surprise at how our boutique also doubles as a fully functional studio, and he comments on the “Hollywood Hustle” he’s just witnessed off the air.

We dive into Ryan’s acting career and he shares stories from his time on set on The Office, Criminal Minds, and various Lifetime movies. He talks about his struggles with the instability of an acting career, pinching pennies and being frugal. We discuss his fashion choices, and he playfully admits that he’d likely be “tore up” by our weekly fashion critiques.

Shifting to reality TV, a major theme in Ryan’s podcast, he shares his thoughts on various Bravo shows, including Vanderpump Rules and several of The Real Housewives franchises and explains how he’s a straight guy with a deep love for Bravo shows, which led him to start his podcast just before the pandemic. We add in our own stories about reality TV, the challenges of working with PR teams, and the often-unpredictable nature of Hollywood. Ryan also opens about his Kansas upbringing, how it contrasts with his current life, and how growing up with girls on his street influenced his tastes and perspectives.

The episode takes a deeper, more emotional turn during Pol’s coffee reading for when the passing of Ryan’s mother shows up in the grounds, which opens the door for a heartfelt conversation about loss, guilt, and the importance of moving forward. Pol tells Ryan that there’s a void in his life that he needs to identify and fill, encouraging him to let go of the past to fully enjoy his current happiness. Ryan agrees, sharing that despite the end of his first marriage, he has found new love and support in his current relationship with Rebecca. Pol’ continues to delve into Ryan’s psyche, suggesting that reconnecting with his inner child, perhaps through an upcoming trip to Cabo, could help him heal further.
