In this episode we chat to the lovely Melody Woods, known within the sober community as Merlot Free Melody!

We're Sharon, Freddie and Ben, three normal people who decided to give up alcohol to see how our lives would change. We're not medical experts but we are expert ex-drinkers, and our podcast brings people together who are on their own alcohol-free journeys by celebrating just how wonderful life without booze can be!

Melody is well on her way to being two years sober, and talks to us about the reasons behind her giving up - and it's not a story we've heard too often. Melody suffers with anxiety and after growing up seeing the effects that alcohol had on her childhood environment, the effects alcohol may have on herself and her loved ones in the present became something that could trigger her. A bad relationship with alcohol doesn't just affect the drinker.

Melody also talks to us about how important connecting with other sober people on Instagram has been, and how much these connections have improved her social life. Connection really is so important when it comes to going alcohol free, whether that's in real life or online through something like Instagram or our own Over The Influence Community.

Melody is open about her anxiety, positive about her future and a lovely person to spend an hour with - so we hope you enjoy this episode!
