In this episode we chat to Miles Bingham, aka The Sober Trekker!

We're Sharon and Ben, two normal people who decided to give up alcohol to see how our lives would change. We're not medical experts but we are expert ex-drinkers, and our podcast brings people together who are on their own alcohol-free journeys by celebrating just how wonderful life without booze can be!

Miles gave up alcohol over 7 years ago and has since travelled the world to do what he loves - trekking in Iceland, Nepal and Patagonia, to name just a few! He talks to us about what his lifestyle was like before deciding to give up alcohol as a busy advertising executive, and how he now finds more happiness in the outdoors than he ever did through drugs and alcohol.

Miles talks about "type 2 happiness" towards the end of our conversation - and the differences between the synthetic happiness that alcohol brings in comparison to the long-lasting happiness that comes from putting the effort in to achieving something worthwhile. Miles packs this conversation full of little nuggets of gold like this, and we thank him for his openness, his honesty, and his enthusiasm for life without booze!
