A New Way of Being

Self-Awareness: Amy Williams MBE

Listen Later

Amy Williams MBE became the first British athlete to win Gold at a Winter Olympics in 30 years at Vancouver 2010. Her event was Skeleton - which basically involves lying face down on a small sled, hurtling down an icy track at speeds upwards of 80 miles an hour. Not for the faint of heart. It took self-awareness for Amy to climb to the top of her chosen sport. Describing herself as shy and introverted, Amy stepped out of her comfort zone to even start Skeleton, and then worked hard at building her confidence and reducing the pressure she put herself under whilst still embracing her sensitivity. She stopped comparing herself to other people (a habit we would all do well to dispense with to some degree) and took notes in a journal every day, seeking those small improvements that add up and make all the difference over the long term. Amy has a fantastic new book out called Talent to Triumph, and we discuss many of the key themes in this conversation. It was a pleasure talking to Amy - and I hope you enjoy listening.

Finally, a huge thanks to my sponsors, Puresport. Their range of CBD and Nootropics supplements have had a significant impact on how I sleep, manage stress, and focus throughout the day. I can’t recommend them enough.

CBD has been shown to have benefits for anxiety, inflammation, aches and pains - and it may even be good for long term brain and heart health. And anything that helps keep me well in the long-term rather than having to fix lots of niggles once they arrive gets the thumbs up from me. Combined with their supplements range, Puresport are paving the way in the natural wellness market.

Frankly, if nothing else, you have to try their Unwind Oil before bed. You’ll sleep like a baby! The really good news is that you lucky lot can get a massive 20% off with code Life20 at checkout. Head to puresportcbd.com ... and enjoy!
