And I always wonder why cafés don’t really promote more of what they are doing, and I potentially think it’s because they’re not perfect. But it’s not about perfection, it’s about progress and just being honest. And sadly, with the greenwashing you really have to dig deep on websites and on the internet to really find out the right answer. Mandy Spooner is also known as ‘That Eco Warrior’, lives on the Sunshine Coast and have been here since 2017 after living in Sydney for 12 years and prior to that in the UK where I she born. She has 1 Husband, 2 boys and 2 dogs!

Mandy says she is so much happier with less toxins and less plastic bottles in her life and loves to educate and inspire others to have less toxins and plastic packaging in their life too.

Her journey started in 2017 when she read an article by Sarah Wilson that said takeaway coffee cups weren’t recyclable, she remembers saying out loud “yes they are” which of course is what we are all led to believe. She then started researching and went down the Single Use Plastic Rabbit Hole and was shocked to find out how much single use plastic we use daily and how much of it can’t be recycled, it was heartbreaking to see the effect it was having on our planet.

She started to make a big effort to stop using single use items and replace them with eco-friendly options. She shared her swaps on social media and inspired many people to do the same. She quickly saw the knock-on effect of changing one thing at a time, sharing it with others and inspiring them to do the same, this has inspired her to keep going and keep sharing, and 6 years later she’s still sharing.

Her definition of Self Love is not being hard on yourself. You do not have to be good at everything. Do what makes you shine. Unlearn perfection and know that you are worthy. Listen to your mind and body.

Switching your mindset from ‘I hope I can do this’ to ‘I am going to make this shit happen’ is a game changer.
