  • Branch Out
In a similar vein, learn more, read more, expose yourself to more, and think more. Stop relying on information to passively come to you; proactively learn about what you are interested in. Have intellectual curiosity. Develop opinions by thinking through different perspectives and become more knowledgeable in general. These two points make you the type of person with whom free-flowing conversation happens naturally, and doesn’t have to be manufactured.
With that said, you could be the most interesting person in the world and no one will care if you have one of the most repulsive social habits: being judgmental. This is when you only see in black and white, and everyone falls into two categories: your perspective, or the wrong one. You are a member of the Belief Police. You can bet that this is annoying and frustrating to others, to the point where it will eventually lead to them feeling unsafe around you and outright avoiding you. When you are feeling an urge to judge, try to instead take the perspective that you lack the information to make a smart judgment, and become more curious about others and what you are missing. If all else fails, make the assumption that everyone is simply trying their best with what they have.

  • A Strange Word
What five-letter word becomes shorter when you add two letters to it? Seemingly contradictory, the answer is the word ... These types of riddles often include the solution within the question itself.
How can you add two to eleven and get one as the correct answer? This riddle appears to be mathematically impossible, since 11+2 cannot equal 1. However, the context matters. Adding two ... which is the correct answer.
What makes more as you take them? There can be multiple correct answers to this one, as long as the object fulfils the condition that it increases the more we take it. ... are both examples of this.

  • The Laws Of Logic
Finally, it’s important to understand logical arguments—especially illogical arguments. This is how you determine the truth and validity of what is being said. We hear these every day but may not be able to pick out their logical flaws. You can think of these as a combination of math and argumentation. There is the conditional statement (X -> Y, true), the converse statement (Y -> X, usually a flaw), the inverse statement (Not X -> Not Y, usually a flaw), and the contrapositive statement (Not Y -> Not X, true). It’s not just word games; it’s understanding the foundations upon which true and misleading arguments are built.

  • Go Beyond The Literal
One of the main things that prevents us from being humorous and funny is that we take everything too literally, and we use boring language in doing so. This is a difference in mindset, similar to the play versus conversing/discussion dichotomy we had earlier. We miss easy opportunities when we can realize that some vocabulary choices are better than others, and that we have multiple chances a day to use them. So the first step in being funnier is to use language that is both specific and paints vivid images in people’s minds.

  • The Curse Of Comparisons
When we slow down and become curious about why we feel as we do, we can start to reduce, remove and transform negative self-belief into a feeling of self-love and high self-esteem. Other practical ways to reinforce a confident mindset are to dress the part and spend time grooming yourself the way someone who values themselves would, and cultivate the right mental biases which look for the silver lining in every negative outcome.

  • Pygmalion
The Pygmalion effect states that if you have an image of a person’s behavior and personality, that’s exactly who they’ll become. Our perception becomes reality, because we can’t help but act accordingly and mold them in our perception’s image.

  • Validation As A Communication Skill
When we validate someone, we convey our acceptance of that person’s experiences, emotions, thoughts, and realities. Conversely, when we invalidate someone, we deny or minimize the importance of their issues and needs. Though validation is a common word these days, it’s not always clear how best to or even why we should engage in it. The fact is that every person’s experience is inherently valid and instead of exercising judgement, we should try and accept people as they are. However, acceptance must not be confused with agreement.

  • The Nature Of Perception
Perception is necessarily unique and individual, because our perception is not just a shared circumstance or setting. Perception comes through the total sum of our experiences, memories, feelings, emotions, upbringings, and more. When phrased thusly, it seems an exercise in obviousness to say that our perceptions are all different. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg in thinking about the concept of perception—how we understand the world around us.
We start with the thought experiment of the Chinese room, wherein language is reduced to a series of inputs and appropriate outputs. You are sitting in a room, and you are trained to recognize Chinese characters shown to you, and then display an appropriate response. For all intents and purposes, anyone outside the room interacting with you would assume that you are a native Chinese speaker—but you’re just pushing buttons. So what is language? It’s about understanding, emotion, and empathy; yet what happens if we conceive of it as a calculator with numbers and equations? What does it mean to actually understand someone on a real level, instead of just responding to them as you think you should? For all of our best intentions, are we just simulating thinking, behavior, actions, and emotion?

  • Four Cognitive Biases To Watch Out For
We practice confirmation bias because, quite simply, it hurts to be wrong. Taking the emotional component out of our “truths” as much as possible and being open-minded about divergent views help us combat confirmation bias and think smarter.

  • Empathetic Assertion
There are better and worse ways of making requests and asking for what you want. In fact, there are seven elements that will help you the most. Don’t fill the silence after your ask, consider the other person’s needs, make it easy and convenient, offer clear options, be direct and honest, be specific, and don’t you dare pout if you get turned down.
